Happy Mother’s Day to you who are mothers and to the Earth, who is mother of us all. The world is changing and the universe is exploding. That Scorpio Full Moon proved to have quite an impact but the approaching Taurus New Moon should help get us in a more peaceful and mellow state. Must have herb…need good herb. That might take my mind off of some of the things I’m hearing about global warming causing an increase in the summer temperatures by 10 to 15 degrees over the next 50 to 60 years and while my son likes warm weather, I don’t think 130 degrees in the summer is a comfortable range. I can’t imagine what it would be like in the deserts of Arizona and Southern California! You can easily fry eggs on a sidewalk in that kind of heat but will the yolks get cooked if left out in the sun? Hard-cooked eggs would scramble the future of a species that lays its eggs out in the open. Centuries of instincts have to adapt to changing weather patterns or face extinction. Mass extinctions are usually caused by space-born objects crashing to Earth, such as meteors or comets, which have dire effects, depending on where and when they hit. Theories abound and one postulates that a comet or large enough meteor could hit at the right angle and vaporize our atmosphere. A large enough body would push much of the oceanic water out into space. If the Republicans are elected, you can be sure we’ll get hit and they won’t do a thing about it except declare martial law and take everyone’s rights and property away. They are just waiting for a last chance to take total control before they lose office. There are many disasters to talk about today. Where do I begin?

What refineries are offline and why? This is bullshit! Gas is higher than ever before but it is a game by the oil powers getting their last gasp of juice and money before the Dems sweep them out of power and begin to ramp up bio fuels for the good of the nation and the planet. Congress is trying to pass a law that will increase CAFÉ standards up to 35 MPG yet no one but crazy Senator Ted Stevens seems in favor of it. One major reason that prices have risen is due to the oil company investors buying up their own stocks with gusto and making profits for themselves without reinvesting in new refineries or other infrastructure for alternative fuels. They don’t want to move into the future with new technologies until they have exhausted all the profits from their current enterprise. The greed and material obsession is a sickness for these greasy and filthy rich assholes that have gouged us to the breaking point. Americans can stand up and protest but a lousy one day boycott, as has been called for on the internet, won’t do much good. It means people will buy gas on the day before or the day after, so the oil companies get their money sooner or later because they are the only game in town. If bio fuels were on the market and people had some choice, it would be an easy one to make.

Food as a commodity is certainly a Taurus issue and then there’s China, also ruled by Taurus from antiquity, so they are set in their materialistic ways. The FDA has some serious flaws under this administration as never before in the history of our country have we been inundated with toxic poisons that are allowed to slip through inspection. The recent wave of melamine poison that has killed pets and sickened some humans is coming from cost-cutting artificial proteins and chemicals added during the food processing in China, whether intentionally trying to kill us off or not. This is criminal of the Bush administration to allow these toxic foods into our food supply. Our federal agencies have been stripped of their oversight ability because their budgets have been slashed. If you don’t have the money to hire good help or there aren’t enough agents going out to do inspections, how can we protect our food? There are far too many people who are unemployed and could use the work to help them achieve self-sufficiency. We could grow our own foods and inspect them here for chemicals and such but there are too many subsidies and farming restrictions, arrangements and deals that even if you had arable land, it’s not always possible to grow what you would like to grow if some factory farm is getting the government hand-out first.  Why we would need to import foods from countries without strict food safety controls is beyond me. China not only has one of the worst human rights situations in the world, the corruption is high and the powerful get away with murder, they don’t have efficient safety standards but they also own us and we should try to reduce our imports from them. They aren’t nice to us because of their agitated past and our past misuse of Chinese people to work as virtual slaves on the railroads that were built in the 1800’s. It’s a long grudge.

China and Russia have been supplying arms to the Sudan, feeding the ruthless cycle of ethnic cleansing that means fewer people having to share the power, the land and its resources. As we become more globally interactive, there will be imperialistic attempts by former colonies of earlier empires, to take over weaker countries, although a stronger, less corrupt UN would help deter that. We can’t stand by and watch the carnage in Darfur and Somalia without doing something. But our troops are engaged in an unwinnable war without the adequate supplies they need there, so it would be insane to send them elsewhere to fight another war for freedom, which Iraq was never about. Sudan is about as unstable as it gets but we’re talking Africa here, a continent in perpetual turmoil. If it isn’t endangered species being hunted to extinction, it’s ethnic violence between Christians and Muslims, a fight that has been continuing for almost a thousand years or so it seems.

Wildfires in So Cal near historic Griffith Park and the Observatory are now contained, although it was quite a scare, as it was too close to too many houses. One was damaged but none destroyed from what I’ve heard. Catalina Island is a beautiful place 26 miles across the sea and the town of Avalon is historic and quaintly charming. We went when my sister and her husband came for a week to do things they had never done before, something you can do when you’ve retired, as they both have. Anyway, the island had to be evacuated, something I had never heard of happening before. The island is also an animal sanctuary and I can imagine those critters were running scared. Still, the drought that has affected the Southwest has left Southern California vulnerable to more potentially devastating wildfires. This is the earliest I can remember a wildfire here, as we had the lowest rainfall on record this winter. It’s strange that too little rain or too much rain will have a similar effect in providing more fuel to the fire but the difference is when that would happen and with more rain, it would be later in the summer that fires would start. Now we have to deal with the possibility for 6 months. This isn’t the only disaster we could have here but there are places around the country who are being hit far worse. Flooding in Missouri is bad as the Big Mo overflowed its

banks and wiped out many low-lying towns and farms in its wake. This is not a repeat of the great flood of 1993, when parts of the Midwest were flooded for 200 days. It’s just a shame that the water can’t be more productively channeled or returned to the vast underwater aquifer that has provided well water for almost two centuries. Alas, that source is being drained and not refilled, so what will happen when the water runs out? With no ice caps to cool the Earth, there will be warmer centuries ahead. Are we heading for the end of days?
Will we see plagues as we are seeing famine, pestilence and insects? Are the dying bees part of our demise? What about the vanishing polar bears? Is that an indication of something bigger? What’s next; rivers of blood?

Dots, squares and rectangles of farm acreage surround what used to be Greensburg, KS when it looked a little like the background of a Gustav Klimt painting. Now it appears as a wasteland of debris with shards and splinters everywhere and only two buildings were left standing; the courthouse and the local tavern. Not a church or temple made it through the storm and less than a dozen people died but Greensburg wasn’t the only target of nature’s fury. Osborne, KS also had touchdowns by tornadoes, not football teams. It was only a matter of time for the governor of Kansas, Kathleen Sebelius, would rise to the spotlight, although it’s sad how it had to happen. Before the destruction, she was already considered the next big player on the scene, considered a potential running mate for Hillary. Now, she has the weighty responsibility of showing her power to handle the executive branch from an adversarial point of view, as she battles for the resources to handle the vacuum left by the deployed National Guard equipment that hasn’t been replaced. Greensburg is an example of Mother Nature’s Shock and Awe! How perfect is it that Governor Sebelius has her birthday this week, although she can’t be happy about the circumstances or situation in which she finds herself. Let’s examine what she must be going through, as her Taurus Sun is under the pressure of an approaching square from Saturn and is within two degrees of the Saturn conjunction to its natal place, having gone through the return last year. She is ready to progress into prominence, as her four planets in Leo show her natural leadership ability and dynamic personality. The Moon in the midst of Mars, Saturn and Pluto puts the gentle and nurturing soul in the den of lions, power mongers, thieves and angry men. She needs to protect herself from the routine attacks of religious fundamentalists who seek to create a theocracy and impose restrictions on a woman’s rights, something she is adamantly against. She is a liberal Catholic, if that makes sense. Maybe the intelligence of an educated woman from a religious background can make logical choices for herself, since Taurus with all that Leo will not be told what to do! The rational approach to religion is due to Mercury in Gemini trine Neptune in Libra and the intellectually searching effects of the opposition of Jupiter in Sag to Uranus in Gemini. That her feminine values would clash with the moralistic men who run the Catholic religion is obvious with Venus in Cancer square Neptune in Libra. Her rise to influence at the peaks of power comes as she faces all those who have lost property and loved ones and does something other than hug them, like our ineffectual president did in another photo op to a place he won’t do anything to help. This is the meaning of her Sun opposite Chiron, that she attracts all the wounded people in need of help and guidance. The Kansas disaster, after the Katrina and Iraq disasters, is just another nail in the coffin of this administration and its likelihood of going down in history as the worst ever. Overwhelmed by an equipment shortage, they can’t deal with it because all of the National Guard equipment is in Iraq and can’t return because it is likely contaminated with depleted uranium. Who knows what else has been transported here or there by bugs or animals hiding inside large pieces of heavy artillery or other equipment? And what happens when the troops come home and their city is gone?
<My City is Gone - Pretenders>

A new coalition government began in Ireland and I predict success as long as they stay sober. If they get self-congratulatory and start making toasts to each other’s health, it will lead to some things being said in jest and then someone will go just a little too far and it isn’t funny anymore. Then as the alcohol consumption increases, there is an increased likeliness of violence. Let’s hope they don’t start drinking as part of any ceremonial celebrations reserved for historic occasions. It leads to Ireland’s re-unification and separation from the British Crown, whom they perceive as irrelevant to Irish life. Well, this is an interesting situation, as the Jupiter square Uranus is affecting change with governments throughout the world. It is an appropriate aspect under which to lay out a three-state plan for Iraq and an oil revenue sharing plan, as well. And then we pull out, leaving them in charge of their own country, once and for all. We shouldn’t have to remain as long as the British did in Northern Ireland. There doesn’t need to be violence when people are going about their business in commerce or education or transportation, whatever it may be. When people are building their own lives, there is much less inclination to destroy other people’s lives.

The French went right to a neo-con-lover, Nicolas Sarkozy, a Hungarian vampire, no doubt. C’est la vie, c’est damage…it would have been nice to see a hot woman take charge instead of another ugly white man. But in the aftermath of Muslim violence, France felt they needed a strong male leader, seeking to quell the rising tide of ethnic divisions with force rather than a woman’s touch. Maybe the English will go there again, as Tony Blair is stepping down next month after 10 years. They had Margaret Thatcher back in the 80’s, so it’s old hat.

The Prez and the Queen should be a new Comedy Central series to replace “That’s my Bush!” It would get old after a while but think of all the possibilities when you have two greedy people from wealthy families with opposite natures. She doesn’t seem to be the type that would get into BBQs and brush clearing, as he winks at her after implying that she’s older than our country. I’m sure he would hate being in the royal courts when ceremony and protocols are strictly adhered to and ignorance will not be tolerated. He would have been shipped off to a military academy for his entire childhood had he been raised in the royal family. He has no concept of how to run a government as he has assembled the most incompetent bunch of thieves and liars in the Right Wing stables. Oh wait a second…it’s by design, you see. Here’s the grand strategy in a nutshell. Privatize everything is the goal and the way to it is to bankrupt the American government, slashing all the social benefits in the process and handing out huge tax breaks and subsidies to their rich friends. He’s appointed people to

powerful positions to corrupt the systems and destroy the intended purpose of things like, for instance, the World Bank, which is why Wolfowitz must go. He was put there to subvert the intentions of the principles it stood for and for that reason alone he should be terminated. Get money to the poor nations of the world and help them establish credit through trade and banking. Instead, it goes to him and his friends to do nothing but take trips around the world and get higher paying jobs for his girlfriend. There has to be some justice in this world, which is why Gonzo must go, too. That slimy lawyer to the demander-in-thief is the smiling fool he must be if he thinks anyone is falling for the same old okey-doke he tried to pull on congress last month when no one was buying it then. So he comes out with a nearly identical opening statement. He’s gotta go along with Cheney, Rice, Bush…all of them! Get them out before they can destroy the world. Just wait until Monica Goodling testifies and fingers Rove as the one who said who must be fired.

There aren’t many good alternatives as any of the Republicans would lose to any of the top three Democrats but I find Hillary to have a hidden agenda, as she is more of a centrist, which means business as usual…don’t rock the corporate boat and no one gets hurt…except the American taxpayer. Corporate America thrived heartily during the Clinton presidency and NAFTA got passed and gave power to the Chinese, so the balance of economic power has shifted to the historically Taurus nation of China, now reborn as a Libra with Venus in Scorpio square Mars/Pluto in Leo, hence the human rights violations that include imprisonment, torture, economic ruination and sexual crimes against nature and humanity, I’m sure. Ideologically, they were to be all about the people, as represented by the Moon on the ASC in Aquarius. Our nation also has Moon in Aquarius and we need to take care of the disenfranchised waifs and strays of society’s chew-them-up-spit-them-out methodology. However, all the money is gone, in the blink of a democracy’s eye, the vaults have been drained dry and we’ve been robbed by a gang of Neo Cons. There isn’t a whole lot to do until 2008 when we can elect a bigger majority of senators and congressmen to pass laws that help Americans get back on their feet. And elect a good Democratic president. We have to see a fifty year liberal majority to get things done and never go back to single party domination. We have to have discourse and dialog. That doesn’t happen when the president is like the Vancomb Lady of Mad TV. La la la la…I can’t hear you.

It takes a brave soul like Charlie Dent, a Gemini Republican from a heavily Democratic district, so for the sake of his political survival, he got 10 other members of congress and got a private meeting with the president, apparently to get him to relent on the whole “No benchmarks and no timetables” thing he does. They pressured him for more honesty and candor but more of nothing is still nothing…or something. So we’ll see what that something is. Even Bonehead Boehner said there has to be a ‘Plan B’. They would send 35,000 more troops to get shot at and blown up. But you know they have to do something to cover their asses when several retired generals who were the commanders on the ground tell the American people that the president doesn’t listen to them and didn’t listen when it mattered. The veteran’s organization, VoteVets.org is the advertiser and slaps the president in the face. He was told that in order to do it right, if they really had to do it, was to send in closer to a half million troops, which wasn’t going to happen with an all volunteer army. This abuse of the service is Bush’s Mars in Virgo in the 2nd, as he plays with the military as though they were his toys and if they die or break, he just asks daddy for new ones.

A star is…dead…blown up in the greatest supernova ever seen in the history of celestial observation. Events like this should remind us of the fragility of our own little planet. About 240 million light years away from us, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, the death star exploded. Oh wait…wrong story. As I mentioned before, I’m reading Death by Black Hole, so I am coming to a greater understanding about quantum mechanics and space-time relativity but this is awesome. The result of this could be a black hole, a nebula or the creation of new bodies, chemicals and even new planets. I don’t want to take the scientific tack here, as I leave that to the astrophysicists and other scientists who explore space to figure all that out. I can tell you that the Supernova SN 2006gy exploded during the Triassic Period, when dinosaurs first roamed the Earth and it took that long to get here. Imagine if you could have seen it from a distance of somewhere more like from 40 million light years away, safe from the effects of gamma radiation that would kill you and destroy many forms of life. The colors caused by different elements not found naturally on Earth or most other planets would be sensational as they are affected by temperature and speed, as well as mass and chemical and atomic structure. If Alpha Centauri went nova, we would be affected because it’s only 4.35 light years away and we’d be turned into a race of Incredible Hulks, big, green and mad. Alpha Centauri is almost a twin sister of the Sun and I wonder if planetologists are looking there for a life sustaining planet. If not, I know there will be some out there, across the universe.
<Across the Universe – Beatles>

I should have played A Little Help From My Friends for this next item. A Florida judge smokes pot in a park and gets popped. As it is a first time offense, he’ll get off lightly, although he has been a judge for over 28 years and is 59 years old. That sounds suspiciously like the Saturn cycle to me! Here’s the ironic part; he was one of the Anna Nicole judges in the paternity suit, so he could use that as an excuse to have had to weather the stormy tides of publicity and pressure, he needed a non-medical stress-reducer, for which medical marijuana could be prescribed. I can’t believe citizens were screaming at him to be fired and imprisoned but apparently they had gotten an unfavorable ruling from him in family court, so had a grudge. Maybe it would be a good time to retire to his next career as a writer of such novels as The Stoned Judge and The Hung Jury, in which we find a man on trial for indecent exposure and possessed of a large penis, who must face a jury of his peers, so you know where that goes. How about Beneath the Robes as a title? We could base it on the life of the masturbating judge, who was busted a while ago. It gives new meaning to here comes the judge! Oh! No I didn’t Yes, I did.

In the silent film era, a series of films were made in the Los Angeles area that was fast becoming a Mecca for film makers. One of those pioneers in cinema was Mack Sennett and he came up with the Keystone Cops. Well, these days, LA cops have been crazy in other ways and they aren’t funny in any way at all. Some of those in

charge have been fired or re-assigned over the fiasco in MacArthur Park and the mayor was out of town when the chaos happened. Nothing went as planned and tactics were not followed, so discipline broke down and insanity happens. For what it’s worth, people are scared when riot police show up for a peaceful demonstration. Why not have security in place ahead of time and have the reserves ready in case trouble breaks out but keep them out of sight of the demonstrators. Cops with nightsticks are one thing but when you have armies invading villages or small rural towns with drug sniffing dogs and crop-eradications in sensitive environments, it’s time to take a look at how your tax dollars are spent financing another unwinnable war. In the process of it, many of our good guys have been swayed by the dark side and have formed an American cartel. Once again, the drug war reveals the scam of DEA agents aiding some traffickers and busting others. The CIA has been smuggling drugs into the US for years and they have had deals with gangs and the mafia to distribute them. In the 60’s and 70’s it was heroin and pot from Vietnam, smuggled in body bags and coffins and in the 80’s and 90’s it was cocaine from Central America in the Iran-Contra scandal. And they dared to just say no to drugs!

Meanwhile pharmaceutical drugs have been inundating the market with TV ads too numerous to mention, pointing to a conspiracy to get the public dependent on drugs that a corporation makes huge profits on and getting bigger all the time. There are over 1000 lobbyists on Capitol Hill and they never lose when they go for something. It isn’t only Republicans in the back pockets of the Big Druggies or Pharma, as some call it, but some Democrats have taken money and voted in favor of the prescription drug benefit that only helped Big Druggie and hurt the little old ladies on fixed incomes who now have to choose between eating and drugs on which they shouldn’t be dependent in the first place. Well, now the RRR has blocked passage of the drug re-importation bill that would have allowed Canadian drugs that are identical to ours to legally and freely come over the border. Why? Big money wants to make more big money and they own the congress because of their donations and contributions. With public financing of elections, we would have to change those evil ways of buying votes. Even with passage of the bill, the president would veto it and they don’t have enough votes to override the veto. Civics 101 needs to be taught in all schools, everywhere in the country. If people don’t understand how government works, they will be crushed by the corporations who want to dominate their lives and the government. Then we’ll all be… <Working for the Man – Roy Orbison>

I found a quote by an American Lawyer named Louis Nizer who said, “A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his mind is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.” Taurus is the sign of talent, as it is one of things you have or don’t have and not everyone is going to have a talent for something of value. Instead, they develop skills, which are marketable but depend upon the demand for those skills, which is tied to the market. If you have a talent, you are often creative and can come up with solutions more readily than practical or pragmatic people would. The Moon is in Pisces, sign of imagination, in which Venus is exalted, so the power of beauty is enhanced by the mystical, inspirational and impressionable energy of the most psychic sign. What dreams may come when linked to this sign, if you know how to go with the flow. At this time, with the Moon nestled in between Uranus and Mars, it is excited and fired up for action that is unusual and surprising. The Moon and Mars are dangerously close to an applying square to Pluto, which has deadly implications and murderous intentions. You have to wonder about the Secret Service coverage Barack Obama is getting before anyone else. Is it due to death threats? I have figured out the labels for the kinds of Democrats we have and it will have to be loosely defined because there are almost as many different kinds of Democrats as there are members of the party!

Liberal is not just a label but an ideal state of being, as we aspire to be like the masters of the great religions. It was because of the benefic qualities that these men were followed and revered, even worshipped. Jesus is the true expression of liberal and there are few Democrats who would fit under that banner, where Obama and Kucinich are the two who stand out. Obama said the Stars and Bars should be in a museum, not displayed at the state house and that shit gets a brother whacked. Dennis wants the menace Cheney impeached, so right on, far leftie, but he’s got four co-signers! They say what they believe would help change the world and see the means of achieving that vision. It requires that attitudes change. Progressive is a good definition for helping the people progress and get more for their efforts and the leading candidate there is John Edwards because of his advocacy for the poor. This requires changes in the system of human resource management and would provide jobs and services that have been stripped by federal budget cuts to maintain a senseless war. Then you have your Centrists and there are a bunch who are Washingtonians at heart and that includes Hillary, Biden and Richardson who are all Scorpios and they aren’t always easy to trust, as the cards are never out on the table. Then there’s Mike Gravel a Taurus, with Moon in Sag, so tells it like it is and it opposes his Mercury retrograde in Gemini, so this is recycled information from the Vietnam War era. And they square Neptune, so his imagination is working overtime or we have to wait until the medication kicks in or wears off…I’m not certain.  Mars/Uranus in Aries squares the opposition of Saturn to Pluto, so he has fought corruption for a long time. He has a great aspect for law and political discourse with Venus/Jupiter in Gemini and the freedom fighter Mars/Uranus helps. He is a man who is like a voice crying in the wilderness, reminding you of the wolf baying at the Full Moon.

The wolves at the door are the GOP candidates, a snarling pack of greedy or devout nut cases. The leader of the pack is Rotten Rudy, as Ed Schultz affectionately calls him, as he is despised by many New Yorkers for his horrible mayoralty and his corrupt deals. He took all the credit and none of the blame for the failures of 9-11, for which he was mostly responsible. McCain is barking at the gates of hell to get to the top spot and go get Osama. He’s a case where he should have been president instead of Bush, although Gore would have beaten him, I think. There wouldn’t have been any election fraud in 2000 or 2004 if Bush weren’t in the race, because Karl Rove wasn’t in anyone else’s camp. McCain would be the oldest president but he won’t make it. This isn’t like holding out at the Hanoi Hilton and reciting the Dodgers lineup as members of your squadron under torture. The facts come out and they are inescapable, as they are caught on tape saying something then lie and say they never said it. Apparently,

no one ever told them about the magic of tape and video tape. Romney may look presidential but he doesn’t have the values that resonate with the average American, coming from an influential family as he did. Brownback, Tancredo and Huckaby don’t believe in evolution and would love to see Roe V. Wade overturned. Once again, men want to tell a woman what she can or can’t do with her body. There have been far too many deaths and infections from illegal abortions and they should be safe, legal and rare as they were in the 90’s with adequate information and contraception available.

I am sick of proselytizing extremists trying to convert a democracy into a theocracy but then, that’s one of the things Hitler was trying to do by wiping out the Jews and gays. Pick a group of people and disenfranchise them, suggesting how vile and loathsome their lifestyle is, despite some hypocrites who are in the closet, as we have seen this past year. The truth is always more powerful than the lies that are repeated again and again, like the talking points used by the Right, as they sweep any reforms or progress under the table, saying it would be too expensive to save us from global warming. Yeah and when we are underwater, they’ll say…gurgle, gurgle, glug, glug. The talkers of the RRR are liars who make up shit out of whole cloth and then cut across the grain at anyone who disagrees with them. It’s just like them to get lost in their own mixed up metaphors. Meanwhile, the talkers on the left are explainers and will quote directly often using audio or video clips to show how the right distorts the facts. It is for this reason an organization like Media Matters was created. When you have the tapes of what the other side said, you slam it in their face! No…you inform the public. Misinformation has been twisted into propaganda by too many totalitarian dictators and this country will never allow us to fall under the sway of single party government without checks and balances. It almost happened here and we should be well aware of it for the next several decades, seeing the extent of the damage it has caused to the American people and the hopes of the world for our leadership. Speaking of America...

I missed America Ferrera’s birthday last month, and as a fan of Ugly Betty, it’s time to make it up, as eating and food issues are related to Taurus and addiction is Pisces ruled, where the Moon is now. Her Moon on the South Node in Sag is one reason for an eating disorder and I knew she had to have Sag prominent, as it is the sign of excess and overcompensation. For many years now, I have observed how most actors can’t help but infuse their own personalities into the character they portray. As a teacher, I would instruct actors how to analyze the part they are playing to dig out all the psychological implications I could and assign astrological designations to each, assessing what signs each planet might be in and developing a persona based on that new chart. How does a person present themselves to the world? It’s all in the mask of the ASC. How does a person feel or seem to be emotionally? You have to look at the Moon on that. How about the ego and will of the individual? That would be the Sun. If you just stop there, you have 1728 different combinations of Sun, Moon and ASC, so would be able to play a lifetime’s worth of characters and never repeat yourself. Of course, actors are often cast for the similitude to the character they are asked to portray, so that narrows the field considerably. Still, America Ferrera is an Aries with her birthday three days before Eric Mabius, who plays her boss, but he’s that mellow, easy-going, womanizing Taurus male, who loves the beautiful ladies. For a yoking of opposites, you can’t get much more extreme that an Aries with Moon in Sag and, what…Leo rising? As compared with his Taurus Sun, Moon in Pisces go-with-the-sensual-flow vibrations, she’s stuck in overdrive, headed for hyperspace. What else could you expect from an Aries with Mercury retrograde in Taurus and Mars in Scorpio adds more intensity to the mix. Mercury is opposite Pluto, so she knows far more secrets than she wants to, especially when by revealing them, she causes more trouble than its worth. When you want love with Venus in Aries, you go for it but when it is square Jupiter in Capricorn, you might find you’ve overextended yourself and can’t always manage. It also causes one to overindulge in sweets and good food to the point of gaining weight or becoming diabetic. Operating on instinct is common with strongly lunar people and with Moon in a close conjunction to the South Node, it’s common to retreat into comforting yourself or others with food and for the case of Moon in Sag, excessive meddling and concern in other people’s affairs. Uranus throws in the friendship bugaboo as needy people seem to be ubiquitous and one has to do for everyone else who seems less capable of pulling off the basic functions of life. Okay, maybe I’m going too far but my mom was a double Sag and my wife has Moon on the South Node, so I know what I’m talking about. By coming to an understanding of the past life issues and finding a lifestyle that allows you to eat normal foods but cut out bad foods and bad eating habits, you can get a grip on yourself, your weight and all the emotional baggage you’ve been carrying around for many lifetimes will melt away. Since I have done so many profiles, these are birthdays of the people this week and a couple of countries.

Tonight, look up in the sky before sunset to the west and you’ll see Venus very brightly shining. Later on, in the Eastern sky, you’ll see Jupiter rising just after 10 pm and it, too, is very bright. Imagine what will happen later when they conjoin, but because Venus goes retrograde this summer, it won’t happen until January. From astronomical to meteorological…I attribute the dry winter to Mars being in the arid signs of Sag, Cap and Aquarius during the winter months. When Mars entered Pisces, it began to rain and when it was close to Uranus, we had major rains, almost as much as had previously fallen the whole season-to-date. Uranus as the only outer planet in water means unpredictability on weather matters, as Jupiter squaring it causes bad luck for

those it hits and it will hit a lot of people. Saturn inconjunct Uranus is putting pressure on business to keep up production, but it’s impossible when the roads and fields are flooded. By the way, in 1993, when the Midwest had their Great Flood, Pluto was in Scorpio, Uranus conjoined Neptune and Saturn entered Pisces but was still square Pluto, which accounts for the massive destruction of property and livelihoods. The result of this series of natural disasters across the country as well as the political ones is that business goes on and corporations make profits while people suffer. Back during WWII, which I witnessed in my previous life, we made sacrifices and saved scraps to donate to the government to be made into the mighty American Military Machine that saved democracy and freedom for the world. Those efforts demanded common people participate in the war in their own way. It was the birth of recycling and it brought people together in a way not seen before or since. It was the next wave of American feminism, as Rosie the Riveter and the Women’s Professional Baseball League rose up and let the girls go pro. Once again, women are beginning to stand up and not depend on the wimpy and ineffectual men in the world.

At the fund raiser for Geena Davis and her See Jane organization, an older man leans over to me and says that men are being pussy-fied or something like that. I am all for gender equity as much as I am for racial equality, as well. I can only hope we attain it soon and see people of all genders, not just male and female, but all accepted without prejudice or even a reaction to them being what they are. Let us respond rather to the who of a person rather than their what. It is incumbent on each of us to be what you are and who you are no matter where you are because that’s who you are throughout time. Like Popeye said, I am what I am and that’s all that I am…but I believe we’re more. See what’s in store. Seek always to open the door. It is the fire of the spirit and the light of reason that allows us to be in tune with the season of change. As long as we inhabit this planet, though, we should always remember our Mother.

May 5, 2007
Feliz Cinco de Mayo! It’s supposed to be a celebration but it’s not always fun. The Taurus time of year is for love and peace and beautiful flowers and blossoms everywhere. Ferdinand the Bull would want that very kind of pleasant experience and environment. Alas, there has been a disturbance in the force for a while now and it came to a boiling point this past week. Immigration rallies in Los Angeles turned violent and messy even though the turnout was far smaller that last year, mostly because kids stayed in school. May Day rallies were patrolled by riot police, a militarized unit of the force. It doesn’t seem warranted when the demonstrators were peaceful for the most part and would not have thrown anything had they not been intimidated or provoked. I don’t know what Chief Bratton was thinking because it was way more response than necessary.  I do know that Latinos have lived in the Southern California area way longer than white people and we have to learn to co-inhabit the place more peacefully, not just when the local sports team is winning. Can’t we all just get along?

Taurus is also about the material world of goods and things to buy, but these days, when you go to a mall or a store where they have the kinds of things you might be looking for, you don’t find quite what you really want. So many companies today have gone overboard making high-end merchandise that sits on the shelves until some wave of popularity washes over everyone and sweeps them away with a fever for the thing. It happened with iPods. You can’t find things that are simple and yet have the quality and durability to last through a few years of use, as they want to create a throw-away culture of planned obsolescence. It has been going on for the years during which American manufacturing has been shipped overseas, as foreign electronics makers have gone higher-end and really cheap and crappy stuff but left the middle end consumers bereft of quality mid-level priced products. Radio Shack has a lot of things but not always what you need. I looked for a little radio to take to the gym on which I could listen to AM/FM with my earphones but there was little that seemed right. The guy directed me to the Sony store and they had more high-end stuff and nothing near what I needed, so I left empty handed from there as well. It really seems as though there are cheap things and really expensive things with fewer items in the gap between. Cars are a good example of higher prices for cheaper goods, as the average price for a vehicle has risen with the advent of all the bells and whistles people like but in reality don’t need and pay for the extras without getting the benefits. With Hummers and Escalades going for 55 grand or more, it has become outrageous, the amount of money spent on show-off vehicles. Then there are the other kinds of car fanciers whose sense of style harkens back to the 60’s as they trick out their old cars with custom paint jobs and high-powered after-market engines and accessories. It was back in the late 60’s when you could get a VW Bug for 2 thousand bucks. That’s not even a down payment today and the gas prices? Oy! Don’t get me started! Back then, gas was 16 cents on gas war days, so you could fill up your car for less than the cost of a gallon today, which is around $3.33.

The Stock Market is up, just as I had predicted back in March…above 13000 for the first time. Yes, once again, we can see how the rich get richer and the poor stay poorer because they can’t get that leg up if they’re always peeled off of the sides. John Edwards would do something about redistributing the wealth, as he would tax the rich as they should be, without the unfair tax cuts Bush has instituted. On the other side of the issue stands Bill Richardson who is a tax cutter, so wouldn’t be able to balance the budget or pay down the debt or the deficit. The rich blood suckers earn way more than 99% of the population and the top few percent have more wealth than the bottom half. The Democrats debated last week and the Republicans did theirs this week and many were all hunky-dory with each other but lambasted the other party. It was politicians at their most well-behaved, as it seemed to be a friendly environment, helped by Chris Matthews, who jokes and laughs and agrees with everyone, rather typical Sag behavior. His Sun, Mercury and Venus are there with Moon in Gemini and Mars in Leo retrograde, so he’s a lazy putz when it comes to working out but strong when it comes to expressing his ideas and opinions. Not a real good moderator, as Brian Williams or Jim Lerher. Each of the 10 white men were asked how they would end the war and no one can say that there is any solution to it. There were no good

ideas and many bad ones put forth and the winner on points might have been Huckaby. He’s the weight-loss king, having lost over 100 lbs but he doesn’t believe in evolution. Forget it, man.

Another thing I wish I could forget is the situation in Iraq where we’re making progress. But that’s not necessarily forward progress as more Bushit reigns with a veto of the troop funding bill because he wants no time lines! Cancer is not aware of time like Capricorn is and Bush has the ruler of Capricorn, Saturn in Cancer in the 12th, so time is misunderstandable to him. We’ve been making good progress there for 4 years and yet, never enough to turn over the security of their own country to the Iraqis. Boehner suggests the Dems are setting a surrender date and are admitting failure. What the…? Surrender…to whom? And it’s already a failure! Plus there aren’t any firm time tables in the bill, just recommendations. Bush just didn’t take the time to read it before signing his veto. He has plenty of money for a war we should never have attempted and he has no way to get us out, nor does he want to…ever! He’ll also veto a bill that would make hate crimes when women and gays are the target. What a horrid person. George Tenet has an interesting perspective and Condi Rice doesn’t remember things the same way but they are both spinning the straw into golden-tongued lies. They call them factual inaccuracies and yet, if you deliberately get the facts wrong, constantly, doesn’t that mean you’re lying? Rice is headed for Egypt for a summit to try and talk some peaceful sense into the crazy Middle Easterners. Oh wait, it’s the crazy neo-cons who invaded that threw that part of the world into chaos and they can’t fix what they broke. I’m certain there aren’t any Arabic or Persian men who respect Condi or take her seriously in any capacity, as their disdain for females is legendary and documented throughout history.

Another architect of the war, in fact he’s one of the main dudes, is Capricorn Paul Wolf-o-witless, currently refusing to quit and hanging on by a thread with the proverbial sword of Damocles hanging over his head. He has conflicts of interest with his girlfriend’s hiring at the State Dept. Transit South Node is on his Chiron bringing up all the old wounds now that he’s resurfaced into the public spotlight for scrutiny. All the plans and explanations of why we went into war and what it would cost were such bullshit and now their exposure with the revelations that have come up really point some blame on him. The shit has hit the fan, as I predicted would happen early this year when I said the house of cards would be collapsing. Dennis Kucinich has filed impeachment papers against Cheney and the next will be Alberto Gonzales followed by Bush. It’s the only way to make sure we will get our country back. I am so sick of Gonzo-gate that all my brain cells start collapsing when more allegations about wrong-doings in the Justice Department keep surfacing. Carol Lam came out saying that her firing and the others were political and no other reason. Well, duh…this has been the most secretive, venomous, politicizing, propagandistic and militaristic administration in the history of our country.

Others in the Bush administration have to quit or be fired, as the Assistant Secretary of State in charge of AIDS, anti-prostitution and abstinence awareness advocate Randall Tobias was implicated in the DC Madame scandal as Deborah Jeane Palfrey spills her customer list to the tabs. This is such fresh meat, I can’t even write about it ahead of time but I did find out about Randy T. He likes fantasy glamour girls because of his Sun at the end of Pisces opposite Neptune in the last degrees of Virgo. What makes sexual fantasies so easy for him is the Sun trine Pluto in Leo, so the sexual role is personally satisfied but he can’t relate to people on a human level, especially women, as his Moon in Taurus square Venus in Aquarius creates conflict between what he feels he wants and his idealized image of what a woman might ideally be. Mars conjunct Jupiter in Gemini with Lilith the wild woman asteroid in between shows the sexual variety and adventurousness but Mercury square Mars causes him to say one thing while doing another and lie about it or avoid talking about it, as Mercury in Pisces on the South Node would do. The lack of truth or generosity is revealed by Jupiter in Gemini closely square the nodes and while Venus is trine Jupiter would generate wealth from well-connected contacts, it’s also having way too many sexual adventures. He knew how to use friends and manipulate people as his Saturn/Uranus in Taurus trine Neptune made victims of others. Further exploration of sexual obsessions would be driven by his Chiron/Pluto and as the only tight aspect for Chiron is a sextile to Mars, it figures that a sex scandal would bring down Randall. Could it be the Juno in Scorpio that drove his passion and lust but the opposition to Saturn made frustration his lot after time with a wife who wouldn’t provide for his fantasies.  The other side of Venus in Aquarius trine Jupiter in Gemini is the abundance of freaks, hookers and wild and crazy chicks. I would bet he liked to beat them, as the Neptune opposition attracts victims and may want to punish them with Mercury square Mars, which is light violence, as opposed to the Mars/Pluto violence of Cho Seung-Hui. Randy Tobias has only begun to be scrutinized and is another fine example of the men and women chosen by your president to serve their country and the world. Oops, he did it again. It must be his Sagittarius South Node, expecting so much and giving so little back.

Venus is opposite Pluto and is the very problem of having too many things and having to eliminate some, including relationships. People can irritate the piss out of us and the Moon square Mars today is indicative of the morning mood. Today, the pressure of daily activities takes its toll and many people would be stressed and under duress and possibly hard pressed for time with Mercury square Saturn. Then there’s Moon just past Jupiter and nearing Pluto in the sky in Sag. Excess causes a mess when you go overboard and end up in distress while wearing a dress that needs to be pressed and makes you depressed. It’s all part of the roller coaster that rides the extreme tides of lows and highs, of cheers and sighs and hips and thighs as they expand and you take a stand on truth, forsooth, it’s time to speak out. Express your points, your wisdom anoints you to open your mouth and insert foot, unless you have the scholarly root. Whatever happens, you have to go further, search for more truth, seek out adventure and climb higher than ever before. What often happens when the excesses converge is too many problems and sheer chaos sometimes on sheer cliffs. Certainly luck is required in such scenarios and if you have any training at all you can overcome many obstacles. When you take too many risks all at once is where the real disasters are made, as in combining alcohol and drugs with something requiring precision, balance or caution. It’s like our president encourages us to do; “If it feels good, do it and if

<Too High – Stevie Wonder>

Moon in Sagittarius is international awareness and overextension in too many directions. It is about judgment and opinions, which are like assholes, as there is an extensive proliferation of them. Truth, justice and government with high aspirations are the Sagittarian way, but you can put your foot in your mouth and as media gets more in your face, it seems overblown and because of the sheer number of stories happening that are worse, chances are, it will fade soon and blow over fast. The news cycles churn things up and spit them out quickly in this age of MTV-style news with out-sized graphics and music to set a mood. Picking pop idols as newsmakers is bogus, as Paris Hilton goes off to LA County Jail for 45 days, housed in the women’s tower in Downtown LA unless she can arrange some private accommodations.
Sag is also about the power of the pulpit as religious messengers spout the patter of their particular gospel and seem like hucksters selling their wares to unsuspecting neighbors. Religion is often a sales job on an ignorant mob that creates fear of the future, which to them is unknown and a fearful place to be. With the salvation of a religious organization, they can go to a place that doesn’t exist, called heaven, to be judged by an old man who is an amalgam of many different gods of pre-history. I could go off on a lengthy dissertation but I refer you to many good books out there, including what might be a good one by an interesting writer, Christopher Hitchens, an Aries with Moon in Libra, born on a lunar eclipse, so conjunctions to both ends of the nodes, a very karmic thing. He doesn’t know if he’s coming or going to evolution school. He wrote a book recently called God is Not Great and is a treatise on the negative effects of religion throughout history on the world.

Taurus is the quintessential Earth sign and Sag is about improving things so our combo today is about making the world a better place. President of the environmental awareness movement, Al Gore, has said the Canada’s emissions plan is a fraud, perhaps because the president of Canada or PM or whatever he is, sides with Bush on many issues, as conservatives tend to cluster together. China is a bigger polluter than anyone and has resisted taking part in cleaning things up, which is a shame that the world will have to see such environmental damage when they come for the Summer Olympics next year. Most likely, they’ll clean up all the places near venues and arenas to cover their asses and protect their image.

Scotland may break away from England…not to form its own island but to be politically independent…The Scottish National Party is working to break a tradition of a United Kingdom in which they are subjects to a crown of incredible wealth yet limited power, but as much corruption as can fit onto their tiny little corner of the world. Apparently, the English are just as happy to have a divorce, if not more so, but most Scots want it, too. It would be best if, after a trial separation, they get a legal divorce and that they make sure the property is divided equitably and ethically. It might well come down to North Sea oil wells. Time will tell.

Oil is the bottom line cause of the delays of getting Iraqis to talk with each other.
Hugo Chavez nationalized the final private oil fields in Venezuela, so we’ll see how the socialist state works in South America. It may be another reason for increased gasoline prices. CA gas is the costliest in the nation due to tougher refinery laws and cleaner burning gas with fewer emissions. Arnold has a chance to lead with bio-fuels made from hemp, on which the state assembly was to have voted this week. But he was in bed with Ken Lay and Enron. His decision making and choice of friends aren’t the best, of course. He could have done something other than put 50,000 more beds in the prisons, like putting more prisoners in rehab and counseling. Maybe he could put prisoners to work in the hemp fields and have them also tend pot gardens for the inmates to stay mellow, while sending up a little private stash for the Governator. The hemp oil and greens could be made into fuel. If there were a cleaner fuel that could be produced in quantities that could replace gasoline, it would bring down gas prices to make the Middle East a minor power, with a few exceptions. Since Bush and Cheney are tied up with the Saudis, they have a vested interest in making sure oil is the main fuel for as long as it can be milked. This well may be the main source of all this fighting in the places where there is oil like Somalia, Nigeria and of course, Iraq.

France is on the verge of electing a new president and it could be a woman! Imagine if Ségolène Royal wins and Hillary wins, they can get together with German leader Angela Merkel and have a powerful girl get-together. The guy she’s running against is a right-leaning guy with a Hungarian or Russian sounding name, Nicolas Sarkozy. However, the far-right nut case Jean Marie Le Pen is urging people not to vote in the run-off at all, I guess wanting them to write him in after he already lost. I suppose they have way too many parties there. I have proposed a seven party system for our country as it’s a good balance. Ségolène is a Virgo with a Full Moon in Pisces, so she’s a beautiful soul who believes in helping her fellow human being. She’s the underdog in the race and has more image than substance on the issues or details of how to run the country. But all you have to do is consider the lack of skills or knowledge our own president has and you’ll see…it’s a bad analogy.

PM Olmert of Israel could be out of a job soon…well, he was Bush’s flunkie puppet in the Lebanon War. Everything about Olmert’s war plan sounds like Bush’s. He went in without a plan to win or an exit strategy and without sufficient intelligence about the opposition’s capabilities. It turned out badly for the Israelis and Hezbollah came out stronger than before the war. Yet his party supported him for now and he’s still in power. We’ll see how that works out as Benjamin Netanyahu dusts off his political suits and tries to re-enter the fray, but he’s a neo-con at heart, so they don’t want him back.

The Turks have a Muslim problem, as there is a threat of it becoming a theocracy, which the High Court won’t allow. Ataturk must be rolling over in his grave. You work so long and hard to build and maintain a democracy and a bunch of extremist fundamentalists come along and want to install a religion-based government and they are right here in this country as well as all over the Middle East. Fortunately, it probably won’t happen there or here anytime soon, although it will take time to undo the damage done by the Bush administration to the minds of our young people. No billionaire has been left behind but the welfare of the American people and common good of the country has been grossly violated and the constitution has been rebuked and puked on by a bunch of former frat boys from rich families who never cared for the rights of the people, only the power of the corporations.

Back in February I talked about the disappearing bees and now have an update. Our food supply will be severely compromised if we lose honeybees to extinction in what is referred to as Colony Collapse Disorder. “The top suspects are a parasite, an unknown virus, some kind of bacteria, pesticides, or a one-two combination of the top four, with one weakening the honeybee and the second killing it.”*(AP) If we are to survive as a species, we have to work together with other species in a cooperative effort to sustain this planet. There are reasons for every creature to be on this world as they all have a function, whether or not you can see it. It is the circle of life, the food chain, as it may be less elegantly stated, and everything in it depends on a series of connections within that circle or chain. We are more connected than we know, to each other and to all that surrounds us. It only takes time and effort to come to realize that. When you do, you become happier and sadder at the same time, as you see how everything affects everything else and it gets to you at the core of your being. You look at the flowers in the spring and where there were once dozens of bees, today, there’s nary a one. What would happen if they all disappeared? Many trees and plants wouldn’t get pollinated, is what would occur. This sort of thing has happened in the past but not to this extent. It might have something to do with climate change but a notion was put forth that cell phone signals were causing the die-off. That wouldn’t make sense out in nature or farms where few cell phones are used. I find cell phones distracting and annoying, while the rude people who use them in restaurants, I wish they would buzz off.
<Flight of the Bumble Bee>

Seven races of humanity represent the colors of the spectrum but it’s really tough to categorize some of mixed heritage. There are 5 traditional colors that amounts to historical prejudice, referring to Red, White, Brown, Black and Yellow or more politically correct, Native American and indigenous Indians of the Western Hemisphere, Caucasians, Hispanic, which as a race is only 500 years old, Africans and those of their direct decent, and Asians. What about Pacific Islanders? You have to include Arabs as they account for a very significant population and are quite a different breed from Brown people in the Western World. Then where do you categorize the people of mixed heritage and race? So from an ethnic perspective, you have to allow for diversity and have representatives for each population. One thing that has been done is to have communities of families from a particular country cluster together for their mutual benefit and cultural continuity, bringing the old country to the New World with them.

As we are a diverse civilization, we need to have a more diversified electoral process. Our population is like many free agents that need to be organized into a league of voters and when you consider how to choose teams in a league, you wouldn’t have only two teams, especially if you have a large pool of players. So you set up divisions and teams and different levels of leagues, such as in baseball, you have AAA, AA and single A leagues, each with divisions and several teams in each. In the golden era, they went down to D level, where the talent was in need of development. There were also far fewer teams in the big leagues then, as there was a smaller population. In continuing the political metaphor, we need to establish a different party system to give the diverse populace greater freedom to choose candidates that more closely represent them. Seven is a good number because it’s not too many and not too few and we have 7 red stripes in the flag. Obviously, with this number, we can have three on each side of the one in the middle, giving moderates and extremists equal access on both sides of the aisle, plus we can have a neutral or centrist one for those who have refused to take sides like Keith Olbermann. I have outlined such a proposal previously, so won’t belabor the point.

Many places in the world are under stress and have civil war and ethnic violence due to religious differences. In Darfur, the embattled region of the Sudan, things have gone from bad to worse, as ethnic cleansing has wiped out huge segments of the population and evacuations have been their only salvation but they live on the run as refugees. In the old days, we would have helped them in some way. Iran is much less secure with some of the fundamentalist ways they are instituting, as the Persian Police have gone crazy. They’ve banned western hair styles and have prohibited eyebrow plucking, so now, too many women will have the uni-brow look as a Iranian fashion statement.

Sean David Morton the UFOlogist and psychic who does disaster predictions, is a bullshit artist. He says he studied astrology but apparently not very well because he makes predictions that don’t often come to pass. If he were correct nine times out of ten, then maybe he’d have some credibility. But to make prophecies that create widespread panic, fear or terror is in itself, a terrorist use of media. He forecasts a Seattle Tsunami, which doesn’t make any sense of you know the environment and how tsunamis hit the shore. The wave would have to narrow itself and squeeze through the strait of Juan de Fuca then make a right turn and navigate through the gates of the archipelago that occupies the main area of Puget Sound. It is not only impossible, but incredible fantasy. Financial collapse of Europe and Armageddon in November are also things that will not happen this year, as the facts don’t lead to what he’s saying will happen. A SF earthquake or any in California is so easy to forecast that they could happen every day and most people wouldn’t know about it, yet he could claim he was right. It’s the estimate of the damage that requires real skill at seeing before the fact. If he said the Oakland freeway would collapse after an accident, then I might look into his visions. As it is, any alleged psychic who makes horrific predictions of doom and disaster should be restrained from speaking in public or on any broadcast media or should be detained by Homeland Security as a threat to public safety, as setting people into panic mode is their job. Watch for color codes on Morton’s next predictions. Blue means you’ll be sad if it doesn’t come true. Morton is a Libra with Mercury 3 degrees away from his Sun, so his ego is affecting what he says and the trine to Mars in Gemini makes him a prolific speaker, if in denial of wrongdoing when confronted, or avoiding it when he can, or filing lawsuits that are rejected. His only ‘psychic’ aspect is something that many people born around the same time of his year have, Jupiter conjoining Neptune, which can be expressed in many different ways, as it depends up[on its connection to the rest of the chart. His is inconjunct the Mars in Gemini, making him a con-artist, used car salesman type of charlatan. Venus in Virgo trine Mars likes to make a quick buck and the Moon in Taurus reinforces that feeling as a need to have things to make him more secure. After all, that Moon is square Chiron in Aquarius and Uranus in Leo, showing his deeply wounded sense of detachment from others. Even his Venus is in a wide square to Saturn and may never have had any sense of love or financial support from family or others in his life, so he has to manipulate others to feel the fear he felt when growing up, as Libra is the sign of projection onto others what they deny in themselves. There is a violent, angry nature in his soul that exposes itself as Mars in Gemini square Pluto in Virgo, so in the war of words, he is armed to the teeth but they are bullshit words that are in conflict with the facts.

Carol Moseley Braun was attacked in an attempted robbery and her wrist was broken as she fell as the would-be robber grabbed her purse. But a couple of biology students at U of Chicago, foiled the attack and prevented the robbery by chasing away the assailant. She is a Leo as I recall from 2004 when she ran for president, born one year after Bill Clinton. She has a need to serve with Moon in Virgo and has a strong sense of social service and responsibility with her Leo stellium, especially the socially transformative Mercury/Pluto/Saturn/Venus all within 7 degrees. Her Sun sextile Uranus is a reason for the unexpected help from bright and heroic young men.

Arnold has some dark secrets because he killed the bullet train and jacked up gas higher than anywhere in the country. He crushed the bullet train to keep support of all the industries that would lose out on a steady stream of revenue from cars and gas being consumed, even though it would save us billions of dollars and hours in commuter time. The Salton Sea is an accidental lake formed by flooding decades ago and with increasing salinity and agricultural waste being dumped into it, its future is in doubt. But Arnold wants to pump it up into a resort that will be for his good friends and investor buddies with money. It’s a desert mirage because as the climate change increases the warming effects in the deserts, water will evaporate more rapidly and the Salton Sea will become the Salton Sink once again, or sink hole.

Chris Dodd is born one day before Rudy Giuliani but that’s not unprecedented, as Dick Cheney is born a day after Dick Gephardt, former congressman from Missouri.
Fred Thompson is the politician-turned-actor who is returning to politics, although with his stance on the issues, he won’t get elected. Got to ontheissues.org and you will see how any of the politicians voted on legislation. Thompson’s record is horrible for human rights and he supports polluters, including de-funding renewable and solar energy. Oh the things he’s voted for! Oh my Gawd! But consider his chart for a minute. His Leo Sun conjoins Chiron, so he’s a wounded soul with a huge ego and with a square to the Moon, has an identity crisis, as most actors do, anyway. Fred should not be confused with Barney or Tommy Thompson, who was Governor of WI but is goofier looking and sounding than stern Fred. TT presided over the Health and Human Services in the first term of Bush the Second and provided the encouragement of chastity and abstinence until marriage, which intertwined with the office of faith-based initiatives, a bad union, to be sure. Both Thompsons seem to have been hit hard by the ugly stick and skewed values.

Katie Holmes can’t escape the Tom-inator, who effectively ended her joyful and adventurous life. Her Sag Sun with Moon conjunct Jupiter in Leo may have gone overboard and stepped too far into the freaky world of mind controlling Scientologists. Cruise has Saturn in Aquarius on the South Node making for a crazy control freak whose substitute father was rather whacked out. I refer to L. Ron Hubbard, who, by the way, was enthusiastically reviewed by Mitt Romney, who enjoyed reading Battlefield Earth. Katie and Tom both have Venus conjoining Uranus, although Tom’s is a bit wide. It shows love at first sight but it doesn’t usually last very long. I think Tom’s Mars square Uranus is where he tried the gay way but Scientology cleared the deviant thoughts out of his mind, which anyone would need to be to get into bed with those nut jobs.
<The Comedians - Kabalevsky>

The man who made the ratings for the movies and who fueled the industry’s growth for the better part of the past half century, Jack Valenti, died last week at 85. A Virgo with Aries rising and Moon in Scorpio, he was a tireless advocate of movies. He was a smart man with wisdom, humor, and a positive management style with perfection as the goal as might be revealed by the Mercury/Jupiter/Saturn stellium in Virgo, within two degrees. His passion for film might be due to Neptune sandwiched between Venus and Mars, as well as being born at the right time when he could grow up with the new technology of his youth. My generation grew up on TV and many of us are still glued to the tube, while my son’s generation will have the computer as their technology of choice. Valenti had powerful connections to important people indicated by his Grand Trine from the Moon in Scorpio to Uranus in Pisces and Pluto in Cancer. The personal relationship issues that may have concerned him would be told by Moon square Venus in Leo, as jealous feelings over strong women could have caused conflicts.

Tom Poston, the great character actor passed away this week. A charming and pleasant Libra with the Moon in mellow Taurus, he was an easy-going guy who had a ready wit, as Jupiter rose just before his Sun, so was in the perfect field. His sarcastic imagination that generated non sequiturs and strange references flows from his Mercury in Scorpio square Neptune in Leo. The mental quickness is attributable to Mercury sextile Mars. His depth on insight and intensity of thought comes out of Mercury trine Pluto, as digging deeply into a character’s twisted sidelights became his methodology is his performances. Being picky and persnickety with people reflected his Venus and Mars in Virgo as criticizing people became his way of ducking behind a curmudgeonly character. There are no easy reasons for his death from an astrological perspective but he was 85 and that’s only a year after his Uranus return, the right time to go for many. His progressed Moon was opposed by Pluto and his minor Moon was in Scorpio a the time of death as well, so there is something. His Solar Return had Pluto square the nodes, so that could have something to do with it, too. Sometimes it just time for the soul to move on and it was his time. He and Jack Valenti were born a month and a half apart.

5-7 Thom Hartmann is a progressive radio talk show host who took over Al Franken’s time on Air America and is also heard on Sirius Talk Left. His political interest was stoked very early as he campaigned for Goldwater in 64, but switched parties by the time he could vote in his first election, when Nixon used assassins to kill off Bobby Kennedy and MLK. They tried to kill the peace movement but only made it stronger and more chaotic. But back to Thom, who is a pleasant, mellow Taurus with a feisty side that comes from Mars conjoining his Sun and Mercury in Aries, despite its retrograde motion, with which he sparks debates with conservatives. Most liberal radio hosts get some calls from right wingers but don’t engage in a lengthy debate, knowing there is little common ground on which to compromise. Rationally approaching people and subjects with a curiosity and engaging nature is an outgrowth of his Moon and Venus is Gemini. Hartmann doesn’t try to convince the other person of his views but tries to help them see the facts, which are often so distorted by talking points that the Republicans can’t dig their way out of the argument. His Sun/Mars square Pluto passion has been fighting corruption and big business since it became apparent to him that the middle class was losing the war against them during the Reagan years. He has authored numerous books, several on the politics of the right disaffecting the middle class and on the subject of ADD and ADHD, something a Mars/Sun with Mercury retrograde in Aries might have issues with in his own life. Always a fighter for the less fortunate, he has Jupiter square Uranus, as I do, so refuses to accept conventional wisdom, as he stretches his perceptions beyond what most people see right in front of them but can’t comprehend. His Venus square Saturn doesn’t seem to have the same issues that many others with the aspect have, as he has plenty of money and he’s been married for 30 years and has three grown kids but he does travel for his work and that may cause some feelings of loneliness but I doubt it. He may have had some trouble relating to his father or his father may have been affected by the employment situation in the 70’s.

5-11 Salvador Dali was always one of my favorite artists for his bizarre, melting clocks and strange landscapes of surrealism. I was at a fundraiser at the Beverly Hills Hotel in honor of Geena Davis and her See Jane gender equality in entertainment program and they had an original Dali that caught my eye and it moved me to meet a producer and a publicist who were captivated by my astrological knowledge, both having had their charts done, from what I could tell. I also met Kevin Nealon, a Scorpio and an animal right’s activist as well as a vegan, such is the extreme nature of his sign, in which he has 4 planets. He’s married to a Pisces, which is great for him but takes me further from Dali. Oh well, Hello Dali. Moon in Aries on the Pisces South Node, Sun/Mercury/Mars stellium and Moon square the Uranus-Neptune opposition, so no wonder he didn’t care what anyone thought. He was plugged into his own crazy perspective, which had to do with the psychological effects of Saturn in Aquarius square his Taurus stellium and the resulting clashes with authority. With this energy, he shattered normal perceptions through his unique visions.

Mstislav ‘Slava’ Rostropovich died…the greatest cellist of the last half century or more, although you cross paths with Casals and reach a stand-off. Different but equal, perhaps. He was close with Shostakovich, as well as Prokofiev and Britten, all of whom wrote masterpieces for him and so did many others. Cello repertoire expanded exponentially with him as its chief exponent. It may have to do with an adventurous curiosity and imagination that wanted to be inspired by more great masterpieces of music, all from his Mercury conjunction to Jupiter in Pisces and their trine to the Cancer Pluto is the vast legacy left. His love of new music is also indicated by the Sun conjunct Uranus in Pisces, as well as indicating how important and intimate the effect of friends. The discipline, time and patience it takes to learn an instrument is easily seen by the Sun trine Saturn in Sag, which was instrumental in gaining him international respect and a position of power that was earned. Having Moon and South Node in Capricorn made him remember his fears and duties but also gave him that force of self-control as a matter of instinct. He married his soul mate, as his Venus in Taurus conjoins Juno and Chiron, so it was a special union and they made beautiful music together; she singing and he playing piano or conducting. His need for independence as an artist may have been expressed through his Sun/Uranus but his dealings with the Politbureau might have found the form of Moon opposite Pluto. Yet his fight against the political systems that victimized and oppressed takes shape in his chameleon-like Mars in Gemini square Jupiter. His Aries Sun struggling against the Communistic purges of Stalin the Capricorn show his own inner crisis of fighting against the very land he loved because of the love of free artistic expression. Ultimately, he was a freedom fighter for the arts and the freedom of mankind, which is how an Aries ought to be. But Aries progresses into Taurus and one settles down and becomes two and sometimes more. It all depends what’s in store for you. There’s more for you than you realize and you can fantasize and idealize but open your eyes and you’ll become wise to the way things are, my little star.
