I wanted to begin with a tribute to the Working Class Heroes of the world and I will go more into that next week for Labor Day…if anyone is listening then. But you’ll get a little of it here today. I’ll talk about the Pluto controversy and about the irony of them withdrawing it now. Politics and religion, the two things people love to hate each other over, makes it a tougher world to deal with in these days. I have the scoop on Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson, along with profiles of Macauly Culkin, Dr. Phil Tugboat McGraw and the head Hezbo himself, Hassan Nasrallah. Just the guy you’ve been wanting to know about. This is the first all-Virgo show of the year, so I want to talk about some of the Virgo fields of experience. Uniformed service is one of the hallmarks of Virgo, as in police, firefighters and military are all under this heading, but it also includes all manner of delivery, food, and repair services. Many hospital, prison and other institutional jobs are Virgo oriented, as well. They are regimented to all look rather the same, as individuality is discouraged in the ranks when authoritarians tell you to stay in line. In a free country, you aren’t told what to do, think, feel or believe. For most, not having to make decisions for yourself so much and the tendency to follow orders makes it easier to do the task. The problem comes when you ask them to do things they weren’t trained to do and for which they aren’t really prepared. It’s exacerbated when you require those who have completed their military careers and have retired, to return to duty to fight a war in which we make no progress and only lose more soldiers as well as the respect of the rest of the world. Bush knows about as much strategy as a 9-year old boy playing with plastic army men…maybe less.

When I think of what Bush has done to the American military, disgracing their uniforms because of the extermination program they have going on over there, I get sick at heart because the damage may never be repaired. The Neo Cons want to wipe out every military-aged man in Iraq and eventually, everywhere else in the Middle East. It’s a disgusting policy from vile men who want world domination and they don’t care who they have to kill in order to establish their New World Order. Unfortunately, they have created more problems and more enemies than friends and in the process have made a lot of enemies out of the various friendly Arab nations in the Mideast. They have started a domino effect of fundamentalism. Then, bringing National Guardsmen home to the US, they are deployed along our borders to guard against the invasion of Mexicans into our country, stealing our jobs and registering to vote as Democrats, to which the Republicans are all up in arms and want to eliminate them, too. These Rightwing Nazis would like to exterminate all the people who aren’t white Americans, so they can have a safe and secure world. I may be white, but born Jewish, I have always sided with the anti-establishment justice seekers, seeing how both communism and capitalism have become too authoritarian.

Speaking of Jews, it was shocking to me to learn that several Jews were involved with the Bush administration, although I knew Wolfowitz was Jewish. First of all, as a religious group they have tended to vote Democrat for as long as I remember, but with the Neo Con agenda of propping up Israel until Armageddon, it’s just a placation until the real war begins and the victorious Christian soldiers vanquish the barbarian Islamic hoards and ascend into the great light of Jesus reigning down on Earth the 1,000 years of peace. If it sounds a little hokey to you, it’s because it’s a fabrication the RRR has manufactured from the bible and will be leaning on those bullshit stories for the rest of their existence. It is only when you come out of the darkness of ignorance and into the light of truth and knowledge, that you can see the programming and conditioning they use in the church. They do it with repetition and keywords and talking points to trigger emotional reactions for desired results. Keep the people in ignorance and they will bow unto you and follow you blindly…if you make them aware of the consequences for not doing so. Authoritarians thrive by having willing followers who enjoy being duped and made to fall in lockstep, so they don’t ever have to think for themselves or decide what’s right or wrong. When the responsibility is off of you, you think the blame is, too. Well, karmic actions have repercussions well into many lives into the future and everything you do or don’t do will go into determining your life experiences...good and bad.

How dare those scientific wacko International Astronomers Union withdraw Pluto as a planet? It comes inside the orbit of Neptune, so it doesn’t rate planetary status…and it’s too small. In that case, they should include Chiron, as it is within the orbits of Saturn and Uranus. Pluto is the ruler of sex, death and transformation, three things with which the administration has a hard time dealing. This is more repression and suppression of the truth that has stood for 76 years. There are multiple definitions of the same word in this language and for them to deny the existence of something…no, they call it a dwarf planet, along with Ceres and Xena. Well, geeks at NASA and IAU, you can die at the hands of a dwarf just as readily as at the hands of a giant. You can quote me on that, too. Ever since Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto, there has developed intense research into the psychological motives and desires of the people most affected by its energies and it’s led to a deeper understanding of the natures of life and death, as well as transforming the human body into a more efficient and powerful vessel for the soul’s evolutionary journey throughout many incarnations. Now there are a lot of people who want to step up and reveal their own experiences with the amazing accuracy of Pluto’s influence. And silencing it will not deter the corruption that planet represents. In fact, Pluto’s size may be diminutive, but it makes up for in effects what it lacks in dimensions. Its eccentric orbit, not even on the same plane as the rest of most of the planets, is part of its energy being counter to the star at the center of the system. The Sun radiates life, while Pluto is the icy, lonely, dead world that shows how dark death can be, a virtual hell to any passing space traveler.
Damn, Captain, it’s horribly cold on that planet. There’s a star up ahead, perhaps there will be some form of life there. At this point, it doesn’t matter if it’s intelligent or not. Wait a minute…we getting messages. Uh, sir…I think I caught a broadcast of some speech…oh my, sir…they are an angry, stupid people who destroy the lives of their own kind and are poisoning their environment at a startling pace. What are your orders, sir?
Take us in for refueling…in stealth mode. They can never know we were here. They won’t be ready for us before they kill off their own population. We’ll just come back when they’re all dead and clean it up for the next group of settlers.
I was trying very hard to avoid sounding like Captain Kirk…Spock, Bones, Uhuru, Scotty…it’s getting dark in here…or is it out here? I…don’t…know.

<Star Trek>
It’s too bad our military isn’t run by Star Fleet Command, because then you’d know that if you wear a red shirt, you’re much more likely to die because your security assignment puts you first in the line of fire. How many National Guard troops felt they were donning a red shirt when they volunteered to protect our nation’s citizens in the event of a disaster or invasion by Canada or Mexico, because they have scary armies? Speaking of which, who is really served by the military? Whom does the military really serve? Are they protecting us over there, or are they protecting the oil industry’s investment? Are our armed forces just pawns of the people who want to take control of Iraq and Afghanistan, after they installed people they could somewhat control? We had a deal! But someone forgot to tell them that they had to follow our rules. The administration had a battle plan but not a war plan. He didn’t know the players because they weren’t wearing numbered jerseys with their names and team logos on them. All A-rabs look alike, when you’re from Texas and all you know is pasty, fat, rich, white Christian people who buy you meals. Being a Cancer, all he thinks about is food and ‘when are we going to eat?’ It’s why when he went to serve the troops Thanksgiving he was shown with a big turkey, even though it was fake; just like his support of the troops. But when the troops follow orders to kill civilians because of eradication orders from the top, the only ones taking the fall are at the bottom.

The Mideast has always been a mess but when you stir the pot, you can get splattered. Vietnam will be a lot less of an albatross in our history when seen in the perspective of history ten years from now. They’ll write that Bush blundered and lied us into a war of ideology and fundamentalist religions duking out a centuries’ old conflict. It is the war without end because an argument of this magnitude can never be settled with millions of people eventually dying. And for what? Because two great world religions have extremist factions that believe it’s time for the end of the world. We’re in Virgo now, so let’s look at it from that perspective. The two sides see each other as irrevocably wrong in their lifestyle, ideals, beliefs, values, education, information availability, control of media, domination of the will of the people they claim to represent and some other authoritarian traits that make them more alike than different. The only real difference is the centuries in which they prefer to dwell. Islamic jihadists seem to prefer the 14th century and the Christians have values that represent the 19th century very well. The technology that occupies the waking hours of far too many adults and almost every young person, keeps them connected in a way that is threatening to the content-keeping Nazis that want to control the free market. It’s really ironic. The very same people who hopped aboard Reagan’s anti-communist train have hijacked it all the way to fascism, which is the business that government is bought by and for which we taxpayers are paying through the bloody nose.

Christian Control Freak Fascists are conducting a decency war as they attempt to cleanse the airwaves and TV and ultimately, the internet, of all offensive material. I’m sorry, Phyllis Scahffly and Jerry Falwell, your time has come and will go as more and more of the children of these extremist Republicans grow up and envision a world and life without fear being shoved down your throat all the time. I am not going to be the first one to talk about the politics of fear, which will be part of one of my chapters of my next book, as Al Gore and John Dean among others have seen as destructive of the fabric of democracy. All authoritarian personalities are dominators, while liberals are cooperators. Which do you think gets the job done more effectively? When you intimidate someone with fear tactics, you may be able to get them to perform and perhaps even faster than others, but they will make mistakes, which are very costly in business or any service where precision is necessary. When I go in for surgery, I don’t want my doctor to be rushing off for a hot date or a round of golf or a fundraiser for a GOP candidate. I want to know he’s going to take care of the business at hand, and that would be my hip. When I’m in pain, I want someone who knows what that pain is and has a sense of real compassion. I find it to be more of the opposite-speak, or Newspeak, as it was called in 1984. Bush says he understands this or that, but does he really? Of course not! He says that out of the instinct one might experience with Neptune in the third or the Sun in the 12th. I think what he should say is that he imagines he understands, but due to Sun square Neptune, his ego refuses to release the heart-felt tenderness about anyone who isn’t part of his immediate family and close personal friends.

His attitudes are reflected in those of the hand-picked congressmen he has helped get elected since he’s been president. The K Street Project run by Abramoff, DeLay and company has not been dismantled, as it still is business and corruption as usual and without a Democratic majority, there will be no significant changes. Money talks and bullshit walks but occasionally it gets picked up by an important ally. Other times, progress and research dovetail and they have now come up with stem cells that are as good as embryonic cells but they don’t harm the embryo at all. You know, the GOP will still come up with a way to block much of the funding for that because they are sick, alcoholic, tobacco smokers who indulge in vile things few people other than the participants ever know about as they party with lobbyists and representatives and executives of industries who contribute huge sums of money to Republicans for political and economic favors. They don’t know how to have a real upstanding citizen represent them anymore. 50 of our returning soldiers and Marines are running for congress and 49 of them are Democrats. If people in America knew what was really going on over there, 98% would want us out immediately and the peacekeeping turned over to an Iraqi-U.N coalition. Iraq is such a mess that no one can suggest it will be easy to even get us out without losses. We’re almost trapped there. It’s as if they have used the war as cover for a fleecing of the American people and the sacrifice of some of our most venerable legacies, like the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, even violating the spirit of the Declaration of Independence, which we should follow in the spirit of, as in 76. 76 years since Pluto was discovered and they want to destroy the country, our government and the world. Here’s a little poem I came up with just this week.

Take up the chant, everyone. It’s what they do in many places all over the country and the world when groups or teams get together in protest or support of someone or something, like another team or the U.S. President, internationally reviled, just laughing and playing like a clown. I have to play a classic song by Roy Orbison that so fits much of Bush.
<The Great Pretender>

Over in the Israeli-Hezbo conflict, Amnesty International cites Israel for war crimes in their guidance-controlled stupid cluster bomb attacks on civilian housing and business areas. What were they thinking? These wars, ours and theirs, have made one country more supremely powerful in the region; the very country that fit all of our criteria for going into Iraq; Iran. It is a greater threat now than they were before our ill-advised and poorly planned and more horribly bungled prosecution of the war. The whole region could crumble into a violent overthrow of borders, country names, ethnic populations, cities and landmarks. Encyclopedia Britannica and Rand McNally will have a fit! However, Wikipedia and Mapquest will adapt much more readily. Kurds want to have a Kurdistan and the Turks want to make it Exterminatistan. They may complain about Saddam while he’s on trial but if the Turks were to invade Iraq to kill Kurds, I wonder if he would have gone against the Turks to protect Iraqis? The world’s a mess and the leader of our country is laughing it up at press conferences and at fundraisers for Macaca man himself, George Allen. Maybe because it’s easy to remember his first name, the president was able to support a fellow idiot ideologue. Meanwhile, out west, Gov. Frank Murkowski of Alaska lost miserably in his primary and unlike Joe, he won’t be pursuing re-election because Alaskans don’t want him. Lieberman didn’t get the hint that the Democrats of CT didn’t want him. The good people of Alaska didn’t connect Big Frank with the president’s poor poll numbers, Frank fucked up big time all on his own and he should know it.

The conservatives who follow the far right ideology of business dominating the landscape with all the fields and forests filled with condos and high-rises from sea to rising sea. It’s a sad vision that the conservatives want for our future, which is no future at all. It’s as some writers have suggested already, that these people in power are Neo Con Artists who are radicals with no conscience, no faith and no caring at all for the fate of humanity. It is with this sentiment that I will share with you some of my thoughts that will be part of another book on the spiritual politics in our country, as it is unlike any democracy in the world. Instead of uniting us with vision of hope for the future, they spew insults at their opponents and break the bank of the government, resulting in a break down of humanitarian services and government operations. Virgo is like the Mister Fix-it and Democrats are more like that, representing the working person and the common man. Conservatives are more like the Capricorn authoritarian owner-boss who will use his power to dominate the will of his workers.

<Saturn>
Saturn in Leo is on the Pluto of many Baby Boomers and it’s resonating as a deep-rooted traumatic and pervading fear. For some of the men, it may cause prostate problems or other sexual dysfunctions and it may be much worse if your Mars is in one of the fixed signs, Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio and Taurus. It may be affected by age, as I have felt it myself as low energy and low libido, but I looked back 29 years ago and I wasn’t getting any sexual action during those periods, either, as there is a time for everything and a time for some things to cease. Something stops you from pushing that desire outwards as Saturn restrains the energy flow and directs it toward productive results. Think of Mars as the impulse and Saturn is the maturity that prevents stupid and regretful actions. There has to be a purpose with Saturn, otherwise there is no function. We want to control our reality as much as we can but time and limitations of one sort or another will block your success, leading to fear and depression. Once a strategy is prepared and you know where you’re going and what you’ll need to get there, you’ll figure out the path from the end of the journey back to the beginning to determine how long it might take. When we achieve the summit, it is with a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment that fills us up, until the next peak is spotted and another journey begins. One hint to remember is that the Greek name was Chronos and any word with the prefix of chron- deals with time, exclusively. Everything involves time, if you think about it, especially our lifespan and fear of our own mortality. Death is not the end of anything but a vehicle. The purpose is to master the material world in a reality of practical solutions with irrational people all around. You have just gotten the quickest comprehensive explanation of the nature of Saturn you may ever get.

Fear not that your life will someday end. Fear only that you do nothing with it.

I hate it that people hate…no, I despise it. No…forgive them, Father, they know not what they do. When hate is replaced by love, we will all be free, yet so many people hate one thing or another. I even find myself saying the word and I hate it. You see how easy it is. We think in negative terms far too much and need to see things that empower us and make us stronger, able to resist the wearing effects of time, other people demanding of us or the pressures of everyday life and the process of survival. Dislike is also a mild negative, so when you despise someone or something, instead of giving over to the harshness of negative emotions, which drain you, put it in a different way. I prefer not to give that person any thought or energy, as it would just enflame me…or something of that nature. Acknowledge your distaste for the individual without giving into anger or hostility and you can become a transcendent being of light and love. Give in to the feelings of the dark side and you get drawn into it.

The true nature of our American system of government is outlined in vivid imagery in the Declaration of Independence, the adoption of which was the de facto beginning of our country as we have come to view it. Either way you look at the chart of 7-4-1776, it still comes out that we are a liberal, free and generous nation with a rich history of adventure and discovery as well as welcoming people from other nations, despite the limitations put on them at first, as there is also fear and insecurity in this American horoscope. Harbored in the deep, dark underbelly in the vaults of the treasury, the financial situation seems a bit more than shady, but strategically manipulated to cause difficulty for the masses. Unfortunately, the chart also shows addiction and obsession as well as a populace that is for the most part, tuned into popular electronic stimulation to the point of distraction, causing the whole political and diplomatic process to go completely over their heads.

I was astounded, but not too surprised to hear that more Americans could name the Three Stooges but not three Supreme Court Justices. Most people don’t even know who their congressman or woman is, let alone their senators. It’s sad to see the deplorable shape our country has deteriorated into and it’s hard to see how we are going to save it. That is the most frightening thing I could ever possibly imagine. People might say, what’s the worst that can happen? One might respond, “I could die.” Okay, so if you do and you get reincarnated, you’ll come back to Earth and work out the things you didn’t get to do in previous lives. What would happen, however, if the powers that be continue to let the industrial giants pollute the air, land and water with fossil fuel emissions? We would destroy the very planet we love that can support human life and maintain so many memories over so many millennia. Who knows what other kind of planets are out there and what kind of orientation would they have to the galaxy that would make us see stars in a whole new light?

<Newsmakers and Earth Shakers>
So…Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson are doing the Aries/Scorpio affair and it looks rough in the synastry but when the composite shows the Sun/Venus in Aquarius sextile Moon in Sag, you have to look on the bright and optimistic side of things. Here’s another thought; her mom is a blonde Scorpio and so is Owen. Or is that just true about a girl and her dad? With the Moon/Neptune in Sag, they’ll laugh a lot, travel plenty and have a lot of fun. They may not even take it too seriously for a long time until the day they realize they won’t do a whole lot better and that they vibe together very well. There is always something wrong with perfection…it isn’t perfect after all and the flaw is the very thing that makes it perfect. If nothing needed improvement or inventing, what would be the point of living? If there were nothing to strive for and nothing to attain, how satisfying would life be? Often, Hollywood relationships have an element of drama and the absurd, but then, sometimes soul mates find each other. These two have a ways to go because despite his age…and hers, I doubt if either are extremely mature enough to ponder a future together. Time will tell and the stars align in the composite making for a good relationship, but the individuals involved, a double Scorpio and a double Aries, tend to be very volatile and explosive.

Tom Cruise got dropped by Paramount, in part because of the poor performance of MI3 but mostly because of his bizarre behavior and poor representation of the movie industry. He’s more about Scientology than the movies he’s in and as such, has lost whatever identity he ever personally had. He is now as loony as the cartoons.

8-26 Macaulay Culkin was a child actor and other than the tabloids, I haven’t seen much of him since he’s allegedly grown up. He has a problem with drugs and alcohol as he has Moon in Pisces opposite Jupiter square Neptune, which is overindulgence without boundaries and can lead to a fatal overdose. You heard it here first, in case it happens. Venus in Cancer squares Pluto, which signifies the death of close loved ones, even the mother or a wife. His Uranus is square the nodes and represents a rebellious character, one who hangs out with friends and does stupid stuff. Here’s the thing, though…he has an unaspected Mars in Libra, limiting his activities to things he does with other people as well as Saturn being unaspected, a sense of purposelessness. His Mercury is so close to his Sun that it’s probably melting, indicating a lack of rational objectivity or perspective, as thoughts are filtered through the ego. Well, little Mister Virgo, you have to serve somebody and you have to get yourself together.

8-31 Hassan Nasrallah is the leader of Hezbollah and is perhaps the most elevated man in recent Mideast events. This guy is a piece of work, as his Sun is tightly nestled between Pluto on one side and Mercury on the other. Pluto is the deep-rooted psychological hatred and revenge of violent explosive variety, venting rage through destroying other people’s property and investing in their own rebuilding of Lebanon to bring favor and support with the people. It’s also the psychology he uses to manipulate the people. As any good dominator needs, he has Moon in Capricorn conjunct Jupiter in Sag and Saturn in Cap and the Moon/Saturn trine his Virgo stellium. This is an occasionally benevolent leader who can be ruthless but feels an inordinate sense of responsibility for his people as compensation for having been a drug-addicted escapist in his previous life. As the old Muslims know, the temptation of hashish or opium can be an overwhelming desire when you are hooked. After all, Blonde Lebanese doesn’t refer to women in that country who bleach their hair. Speaking of women, how does Hassan view the fair sex? Most men who have Venus in Virgo square Moon in Capricorn see women as service people whom they control and dominate, use them as virtual slaves and yet, act like they respect them to the rest of the world, as though they are making the world safe for the women and children of the future. His Venus squares Jupiter as well, inclining him to promise more than he can deliver, although it seems that the local Arab world will come through with aid and support. It may be that Hassan’s anger will do him in, as his Mars opposes Jupiter, planet of truth and justice, as well as wisdom and good judgment, which could signify actions that cause him legal, political or international opposition. Mars squares the nodes, showing that his anger, possibly arrogance and impatience will cause him problems. The dude is young for a party leader, only 46 this week, born in the Year of the Rat, which makes him a survivor, which in that part of the world is the number one necessity for any success in the political spectrum. Assassination was invented in that part of the world, as they are near the cradle of civilization. Jupiter trine Uranus is enormous popular support and political good fortune, as well as personal good luck. Sun is square Mars with a wide orb, making for restless, angry and impatient person. Jupiter square Hygeia, without this being an opinion, is the risks he takes that will negatively manage to affect his health, like eating too much and gorging himself.

9-1 Dr. (and what kind of physician is he?) Phil McGraw wouldn’t understand the spirit if you sat it on the couch and charged it $200 an hour. He prefers to psychoanalyze others because he’s got so much deep-rooted anger and rage that it could lead to more disruptive violence. He is actually attracted to wealthy suckers, whom he convinces need therapy and cons them out of a lot of money. Wait, Venus conjunct Pluto in Leo…what else could that be? Venus is what you want and Pluto is sex and other people’s money. Now, that’s what I call motive for a fat and bald Gomer like Dr. Phil. Ah, the reason he got into therapy himself was because of his anger at his mother, which the Mars opposite Moon tells us and the Saturn square Chiron shows us the wounded-ness of the father, who perhaps abused the mother, who was too insecure to leave. Mercury in Libra square Uranus has denial all over it with the added quality of making shit up if it sounds good because he’s really not a good or thorough diagnostician. Mercury near the South Node shows him to be a bit of a plagiarist, as his thoughts are a collection of all the pop psychology books he ever read. Mercury inconjunct Jupiter shows his ideas and advice to be irrational tidbits of useless information that is more general than specific. He doesn’t comprehend the true nature of individuals because he has to generalize to reach a greater audience. He has used Oprah to climb to a place of wealth and comfort for his big, fat, bald face to explain what life is all about when he’s rather personally clueless about it. His North Node and perhaps his ASC are in Pisces, indicating he has to learn how to have faith and trust to the spiritual flow. But Virgos don’t usually do that, unless they are like Mother Therese, she of the 26th.

Not a democracy
Was that just the sound of our founders flipping in their graves? I’m sorry but perhaps that’s the way it has become and maybe that was the statement the person was making. As far as most Americans are concerned, we live in a democratic republic that needs a little more green and other colors of the rainbow because after a while, Red and Blue are arguments mostly White people are having. They seem to have left out most of the Yellow, Brown, Black and real Red but we are all pink under the surface. We have to cooperate to make this world a greener place, so we can produce more oxygen and balance the environment, but we have to stop burning things that destroy the planet. Perhaps a race of Green people will arrive and plant trees that absorb all the worst toxins in the air. Maybe a Blue race will come and restore the pristine condition to the oceans. I am a Pisces, you must know, a dreamer from the time I was born.

You have to believe in yourself and not be a submissive American but a progressive one. If you allow yourself to be ground under the heel of oppression, you are nothing more than a bug crushed under their boots. We are the greatest country in the world because we are a mixture of the best of the rest of the world that came here for the freedom to be what and whoever they could become, given the opportunities in a free country. But there are the extreme radicals who control the government under the name of conservatives who wouldn’t know the first principle of conserving, conservation or even true conservatism. I would speculate that today, the Democrats are more of the traditional government stewards and the Republicans have made up a neo-con cum Neo-Nazi cum Religious Rightwing wherein assassination, pre-emptive invasion, racial hatred and religious intolerance are somehow justified and they can’t see how divergent from the teachings of Jesus all they are doing really is. This Judeo-Christian cult has merged the Old and New Testaments together, not realizing that Jesus came to give them new laws and ways of living that transcended the old ways. That which is hard to keep is easy to forget. I may have made that up…think about it. Well, this has been the first New Moon of Virgo we had on Wednesday and we’ll have another one 4 weeks later. It’s time to plan but as you do, still try to imagine how to work to make a healthier life for yourself and each other and the planet. Imagine I’ll be talking to you next week and it can happen.

We’re winding down the summer with the Moon in the last phase and the Sun in the last degrees of Leo. I too, am winding down, as I prepare myself for surgery to replace my lift hip ball joint. It’s not the whole hip they replace, I found out. They insert a metal rod into your femur and have a metallic ball on top of it. The size of it makes all the difference in range of motion and durability, the bigger the better. I plan the surgery for mid-October, hoping to be watching the Dodgers play deep into the playoffs. Until the last game of the home-stand, they looked like the greatest Dodger team in their history and then they went and stank up the place. Oh well, you win some, you lose some and others you don’t even show up. The pitchers must have already left on the road trip because they were tripping, all right. In fact, the starter of the game was the same one who started the game we went to in the middle of the streak that they lost. Anyway, in it, Mark Hendricksen, all 6’9 of him, fell down off the mound on a follow through. Jeez, that was kind of funny if he didn’t get hurt, and he didn’t until the relievers gave up the margin of victory to the visitors. It was camp day at Chavez Ravine and the kids must have gone home a bit sad the boys in blue got blown out. They’ll start another streak soon enough, as it is the way of their season. But enough about sports for now, let’s turn our attention to more significant matters.

Old news is in the new news cycles because of new revelations. One of the great alleged murder mysteries is the death of Jon Benet Ramsey, the 6 year old beauty pageant girl whose demise cast suspicion on the now-deceased mother. I’m sure her daughter’s death contributed to her own end, as well. So, a teacher the girl had in school is arrested in Thailand and booked on suspicion of murder. But he insists it was an accident, so I suppose the forensics team needs to be called in to determine whether the injuries sustained are consistent with the trauma suffered from injury if they were inflicted upon her by some external source, as in a person. Bringing up more bad memories of tragedy past, New Yorkers got a taste of the recording of 911 calls on 9-11 as 1,613 recordings of calls on the day of the disaster were released. I suppose it will help the healing process for some and to get closure for others. It will bring back nightmares for many and the hope of all that this will never happen again.

This week, I’m introducing a new segment in which I look at the chart of different countries and see what’s wrong with them and what’s good about them and how they can heal what’s broken in their system, if I can. I will also pick a few of the many famous Leo-Virgo cusp people to profile. Of course, there’s politics and spirituality or religion and the controversy they cause in today’s world and offer what words of wisdom I can muster. It’s easy to understand why people are so crazy and scattered these days, with so many forms of information, disinformation, lies, advertising, entertainment options and other electronic distractions that it’s hard to hear yourself think anymore, which explains why so few people do it. How can you think your own thoughts when you are being bombarded by bloviating blowhards blasting bullshit beyond the pale? It’s your right to have your mind unimpeded by high-intensity invasions from multiple directions when something electronic is always in operation. We had better writers in the days before television because they were able to paint a vivid picture with words that allowed the imagination to explore other minds and realities. Now, we flip on the tube and kick back, letting a wave of relative ignorance wash over us. Not even the news is objective or rational anymore, as they hype the latest headlines for dramatic effect and do stupid stories during sweeps just for the ratings. When you have government, media and business all colluding to dupe the American public into buying this or voting for that, it’s all a scam to control, manipulate and dominate the citizenry and we have to sweep that away if we are to take back control of our own individual destinies. We have a brewing tempest in a teapot in this country over politics and religion infecting each other.

The perfect storm in civilization is the confluence of religion and politics and the erosion of freedom and civil rights as the lean toward theocracy has many left and center aware of another crusade to evangelize the electorate. It’s the nature of an authoritarian personality to use fear, intimidation and worse to achieve their ends. You can read about it in the book I’m reading now, Conservatives Without Conscious by John Dean, a name you should recognize from the Nixon Watergate scandal, as he was White House counsel and said that there was a cancer growing on the presidency. I think he agrees with me that this current president is a Cancer, both the sign and the disease. He is a malignant tumor that needs to be cut out so that the rest of the body politic and the country may be saved. The problem is that Cheney is worse, like a leper with AIDS and the Bubonic plague, he is poison to himself and everyone who gets close to him. Look what happened to Scooter Libby. That’s okay Dick, he was just following your orders, so what does that say when the investigation and litigation points to you? Their attitude of moral superiority is so far from where they really are that it’s pathetic to hear them whine when they do so much worse all the time. They have people campaigning for change and they are also Republicans, so what has their party done in the last 12 years while they’ve been in control of congress? Are we really safer, more prosperous or better educated? Have we advanced in the research and development of new energy sources or protected our natural resources any more? No and that’s because the agenda with this administration was fear and war all the time. Ground the people into submission by making them afraid to question authority or anything they are told. We used to be a nation of free thinkers who invented what we needed to move forward. Now we’re stuck in a reactionary past-leaning direction with no course correction in sight.

Hugo Chavez visited Fidel Castro in the hospital this week and their picture shows Chavez to be the true leftie, as that’s the hand with which he writes. This is the first look at the Hugo Chavez horoscope and I can see why he’s president. He has Mercury and Jupiter along with the Moon on his South Node, so he’s done this politics thing before and didn’t do a real good job protecting his people and may have taken advantage of them, which was the way most leaders did it way back when and those three planets sextile Venus in Virgo, so he favors the people who are the workers and not those with ownership of industries. Now, he has Sun square Saturn in Scorpio, which makes one limit one’s power out of insecurity and a distrust of people in power. Some of its effects are fear, doubt, low self-esteem and a lack of self-confidence. It’s also a late bloomer and one who has to overcome the frustration of a difficult father figure. Moon/Uranus square Neptune shows a need to liberate himself from religion or institutional victimization, so has some of the leftist leaning from that. Mars in Sag inconjunct Uranus is part of his fight for the freedom of the people but it is a stressful one. Mars trine Pluto allows him to muster the resources of a great nation of one of our southern neighbors and wield significant global power with it. Pluto is conjunct Hygeia and it motivates him to probe the corruption that has eroded the potential of his country. With Uranus rising ahead of his Sun, he wants to make changes in the world that affect everyone on a more egalitarian way. But wait, there is another world leader who has that same oriental position of Uranus; GWB, but he has used the radical and violent side of shock and awe to disrupt the lives of so many people around the world, but especially here and in the Mideast.

Ariel Sharon’s condition worsened this week and then there was some improvement but he won’t be getting up to run the country, that’s for sure. And even if he did, the circumstances he would find himself facing would give him another stroke at the very least, if not a fatal heart attack. He might say that what has happened in the past month and a half is deplorable and would never have happened had he not been sleeping in his coma. Ehud Olmert is a Libra with Moon in Leo but it is close to Pluto natally and progressed Mars is in Leo right on his Moon. His South Node in Capricorn and Saturn in Cancer, like Bush who was born nine months later, shows a lack of patience with the peace process, so another Neo Con who goes for war first. He’s a special case of denial and blame others first, as he has Sun/Mercury/Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron all within 4 degrees and they all square his Mars and the nodes, so it causes him a ton of karmic problems and he must have a whole lot of personal issues. Israeli/Arab politics have been extremely messy for a long time but they aren’t the worst in the world.

In American politics, an Ohio candidate for congress was arrested for a domestic dispute with her husband…the Democrats are always fighting with each other as well as the Republicans…so, who says they don’t know how to fight? With liberals being individualistic free thinkers as a rule, they have no central doctrine that they all follow and no unifying principles like Greed, Oil and Power, giving us the GOP. Some on the left side of the aisle can be like their animal symbol, the mule, and be as stubborn and resistant to insistence or coaxing as the critter. Democrats have personal lives as well as Republicans but why is it that the GOP policy is to smear the left for everything possible and more? Sure, the elephant never forgets, but these people seem to forget their own statements and stances as well as criminal activities that many of them have engaged in all too often. Lies are also frequently spewed from the mouths of Neo-Cons and it’s unconscionable they way they are so callous about the lives that have been ruined because of their policies. The administration has cut in half the funding for helmet liners for the troops because of budget issues, while traumatic head injuries are the leading cause of casualties! When I see bumper stickers that say support the troops, I want to yell at them that their president and his party don’t even really support them, just use and abuse them by stop-loss and increasing tour of duty durations. Once we had the greatest fighting force in the world and now it is a pale reflection of a wistful dream. But if we had good politicians, we wouldn’t need to use the military!

This week is the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and in astrological retrospect, we can see much of what happened and why. First of all, the disaster began with the Sun entering Virgo and an opposition to Uranus, the planet of unexpected surprises. Secondly, Neptune, lord of the oceans and forces of water, was square Mars, for an all out war on the land. Thirdly, so many lives and properties were destroyed with the massive cost approaching 150 billion represented by Venus and Jupiter conjoining on the South Node in Libra, so they shared the misery with everyone. It’s also why there was so much blame going around and yet so many people were in total denial that there was any wrongdoing. After a year, there are few people who have been able to return to anything resembling normal. Life is returning to normal only for those who weren’t flooded out of their homes or businesses. For the poor residents of the 9th Ward, however, insurance companies won’t cover what they refer to as flood damage, for which those people should sue the federal government and the Army Corps of Engineers for building levees that would destroy their houses, lives and hopes. On the other hand, there may be certain areas that the river needs to take back, where levees would be harder to build as they would need to be higher, with global warming raising the sea levels and so much of New Orleans now below sea level, as it has been sinking for years. Oh dear, some fears may erode years. Who steers the state changes gears for the country. In commemoration of the disaster, I found a song that barely approximates the desperation that faced the citizens of another flood.

The English did the job we couldn’t by arresting the terrorists before they could pull off their plan. War is not the answer to terrorism but police, FBI and CIA working together both domestically and internationally, can reduce the number of events, just as John Kerry put forth between all the gobbledygook he spews out. Bush calls them Islamic-fascists but that’s more of a projection, since the Neo Cons are totally committed to fascism. It makes sense for all the Libra he has in his chart that he’ll blame others for attributes he has and is total denial of because he can’t frame his lack of vision into any cohesive statement. Even though they haven’t caught Osama in 5 years, the Bushies wanted to take credit for the British work. They have more than a lot of nerve or a lot of gall…they are full of a lot of shit and that’s at the very least. The amount of venom coming from their mouthpieces and spokespeople is astounding but then they don’t want to reveal what part Pakistan played or didn’t play in the arrests. Were they helpful or obstructionist? They have Sun, Venus and Saturn in Leo all square Jupiter in Scorpio. So they are, shall we say, truth challenged. The square from Moon/Mercury in Leo to Chiron shows their wounded dealings with women and education by not taking care of them medically or with schools and teachers, as the literacy there is less than 25%. As a result, ex-pats are leaving their strife-stricken country for the Empire that established their borders, Great Britain. This means many Pakistanis live in England and while many seek education, others are marginalized and disenfranchised by a caste system and an ownership society they can’t break into very easily. Glass ceilings and limited opportunities lead to frustration and even anger but when it becomes institutionalized into tacit racism, it is intolerable of an advanced civilization. So, while they stopped a terrorist attack, they also bred the circumstances that spawned the terrorists.

In another case of sneaky and illegal behavior, the Bush administration has instructed border patrols and customs agents to confiscate any Canadian drugs trying to come across the border. Are we going to turn old people into drug runners? If you want to see a segment of society get up in arms with sheer numbers, just watch the seniors get into the political fray a little bit more. You’ll find many who thought they were conservative will change their tunes when they see and understand what the GOP has done to them and their drugs. This is a new chapter and a vile one in the war on drugs they have wasted time and money and resources on for over 25 years and they still haven’t put a dent in the long-term run of the industry. Have the drugs legalized and dispensed through clinics with people to monitor the patients as they medicate and make sure they don’t overdose. There are common sense solutions to complex problems but the conservatives want to lock up every single drug offender and dealer while not going after the manufacturer’s of the chemical ingredients for meth, although they made pseudo-ephedrine a little harder to buy. Drug companies should be targeted for overwhelming the television airwaves with bold claims about their drugs’ ability to cure everything…while leaving you with side-effects that they rattle off so quickly but all sound troubling.

Israel and Lebanon should be the first subjects for astro-geo-political-analysis. One can understand their differences in stark terms when you see they have opposing Suns. If Israel would have given a little more effort to the process of peace, they could have achieved it, but there are forces that want to have war to keep people in a state of fear so they can control them. It is the nature of authoritarian personalities to do just that. So, as Israeli troops withdraw from Lebanon, UN forces move in and the bids for rebuilding start coming at a frantic pace. I wouldn’t doubt if Halliburton wanted in on the frenzy. Maybe they could fuck up Lebanon as much as they did Iraq. Then you throw Syria into the mix and they have their Sun in Aquarius, square the Suns of both Israel and Lebanon, which explains their antipathy to both. It’s a hotbed of hostility hovering near hellish and hope, help and harmony can open the path to peace. If Israel would assist their neighbors with education and economic aid, we could see a turnaround in the area. But as long as both parties want to hold on to past angers, fears and insecurities, we will never see progress to peace. As it happens, I came up with the birth date of the head Hezbo, Hassan Nasrallah and it’s next week, so I’ll do a profile of him next week.

In Iraq’s chart, Mars is on the South Node in Aries, so they are always at war or killing or shooting or something violent, while opposite is Jupiter on the North Node and they square the Sun in the 12th. Too many of the killings have been very personal, while many others were mass slaughter…but with the Sun in the 12th, the personal murders were kept private and covered up. It is a repressive society by nature and a new government won’t change that, just make it a different kind of repression. Saturn in Sag opposes Moon and Venus in Gemini, so there will be fewer learning opportunities for women in a culture like that, as there is fierce limitations and restrictions placed on women and you might see the return of the burka there. Their diplomacy is a threatening gesture or a mass murder but it can also rely on deceptions, as the asteroid of diplomacy, Pallas, squares Neptune and the nodes, so they really don’t get the whole equality thing. The problem with invading them is the Mars factor, and that means they’ll most often fight their way out of whatever it is. A better approach would have been to educate their people with democratic ideas and history lessons. Jupiter on the North Node as well as Saturn in Sag suggests that a higher rate of literacy and some college educated scholars would help to lead them better than a bunch of radical clerics.

Mexico has the Sun in Virgo on the South Node and its people have very little work there, which is why they come here. A full analysis will reveal more than I can go into here but there is a lot of interesting and unique talent in Mexico and a rich and varied cultural heritage, if only people would take the time to consider the multiple civilizations that existed before Cortez ever landed and conquered a less militaristic society with a minimal force of fear, intimidation, threats and deadly weapons. I suppose they did all that amongst themselves but because there may have been some human sacrifices, they all had to be killed or Christianized. The power of an international invader would be the political and business consortium of Jupiter/Saturn trine Uranus/Neptune for the trans-oceanic commerce with new and unusual people. Well, they all trine the Sun on the South Node, so their national identity includes their ancestral calendar/zodiac/codex, the Mayan Calendar. Venus in Virgo sextile Moon in Cancer is easily the importance of domestic work for their primary income, as in hotel, restaurant, gardening, construction and uniformed service industry jobs, as well. Venus opposite Pluto square Uranus and Neptune is the tragedy of separation due to illegal border crossings and the frequent deaths to which they contribute. The Moon in Cancer square Saturn and Jupiter is the highs and lows of the Mexican people as they get elated by their joy and generosity to and from their families but with large families come many and often severe responsibilities and obligations as well as depression and frustration that things don’t always go the way they want them to. This is the general nature of the nation’s people. There’s a wide opposition from Mars to Neptune, so it makes the country a victim of the war on drugs, as many people have been killed over drug running, smuggling, dealing and even sometimes just using. Heroine is a killer and coke can be too. Not as many have been killed who are involved with pot, because it doesn’t stir up the aggression the others do. The Moon trine Pluto is the way they’ve transformed from the ancient roots of their culture and incorporated some of the past while they dig up more of it as they change their current landscape and unearth treasures and wonders from past civilizations that give greater understanding of prior lives on that land.

Iran should actually be very progressive and will be as soon as they overcome their addiction to religion as they have Neptune square the Pisces South node. Their greatest ill is their anger, arrogance and aggressiveness as well as their ability to irritate their neighbors as the Moon opposes Mars/Sun/Mercury and they all square Uranus, which is where they get that crazy talk from their president. I found out about his chart and he’s got Moon/Pluto in Virgo square Saturn so governs his people with fear and intimidation. His Sun conjoins Neptune and they square Uranus so he is delusional and crazy, perhaps, being a holocaust denier along with Mel Gibson’s dad and a few other nut jobs who wish to ignore history. Iran’s chart has Moon opposite Mars, an indication of the attraction and the war between men and women in that country since the Islamic revolution of 1979. The Moon in Leo is a reflection of the past glory that was Persia and the royal lineage they had, as well as the high value placed on women, as Venus in Capricorn reminds me of women with power and authority. As it makes no aspects, there is little place for a powerful Persian woman in Iranian society today and most of them live in the USA by now. With no planetary aspects to Jupiter, you’ll never get much truth from that country and as it squares Chiron, more likely deception and cover-ups.

As for presidential potentials putting appendages in their orifices, George Allen, Senator from Virginia, called a man from VA whose parents were from India who was filming for his opponent, a macaca, meaning you little piece of shit. Pundits were speculating that it was referring to a macaque, the kind that populate Bali and all through Southeast Asia and into Africa. The genus name does sound similar but there’s no doubt that he wasn’t referring to the man being a monkey. And even if he was, calling someone a monkey or a piece of shit is still needless verbal abuse and certainly improper for a apparently unfit presidential candidate. I find it particularly disgraceful the both George Allen and Bill Frist, Senator from Tennessee, are both Pisces born in my year! Randi Rhodes had a book from George Allen’s sister Jennifer, in which she described despicable behavior that was violent, vengeful, abusive, sophomoric and Neanderthal. His hatred of others who were different was horrific and his intolerance seemed pervasive. You can see the anger, rage and hostility towards others as it churns up from unconscious memories of past lives and family patterns in this life that reinforced the trauma that he continues to inflict on others. Hate what you fear and fear what you don’t know or understand. It is an unfortunate pattern of weak and insecure people who overcompensate by becoming authoritarian personalities, which almost all Republicans are. Those who have more spiritual values and who believe in free will and freedom of thought will have the rational sense to reject the doctrines of narrow mindedness as they permeate the political spectrum with hypocrisy galore.

George Allen is a Pisces with Moon in Leo conjunct Pluto, giving his normally impressionable personality a veritable cauldron of emotional trauma as a template for his irrational statements and attitudes. His Sun inconjunct his Moon/Pluto give him an instinct for corruption and evil intentions that will sabotage his ambitions. No centrist will vote for a man of such vile instincts. Mercury in Aries has no real close aspects and only forms a sesquiquadrate to the Moon/Pluto, causing sarcastic and provocative comments and he’s intolerant of his associates expressing their ideas. Oh great, another one who wants brown nosers and ass-kissers. His Moon/Pluto just happens to oppose Venus and they all square Mars to bring into play misogyny and abuse of women, possibly even physical violence and psychological torment. With that kind of hatred, you’d think he was in denial of being gay…but his dad being the coach of the LA Rams back in the senator’s youth, he learned a lot of useful tools of violence just from watching the players. Athletes are poor role models for those entering a field in which intelligent and diplomatic behavior are appreciated. His utter lack of diplomacy or the understanding of it is revealed by the sesquiquadrate that Neptune makes to the asteroid of diplomacy, Pallas. Saturn square Uranus and Chiron shows a father that was frequently absent and wounded at the same time. It sad when the Republicans try to hold themselves up as paragons of American virtues and values and fall down so miserably as when they are being videotaped and revealed as the lying, foul-mouthed hypocrites they are. His mother was French-Algerian, so she taught him what a little macaca he was and he throws that around at others. It’s possible that his mother felt betrayed by his dad, who was freelance gallivanting around with every hooker in Vegas.

Valerie Plame Wilson had her birthday last Sunday and I was too busy to check for it, but I follow through with the intention to do it now. For starters, lets first notice that she has Sun conjunct Venus, which makes for an attractive person who can be pleasant, charming, engaging and interested in people. They square Neptune, which makes her deceptive and elusive, hard to pin down and can dress up to be absolutely ravishing to throw men a curve, in more ways than one. With Saturn opposite her Sun/Venus, she has always attracted older, powerful men, beginning with Joe fresh out of college. While in her position at the CIA, most of her superiors were of that type, so have been her adversaries in the outing. She has Jupiter exactly sextile her Saturn which is the international aspect of her business, as well as the political nature of it and the effect it has on global relations. Again, the Sun/Venus work together in trine to Jupiter to give her more influence and press it more than previously thought possible. Her Moon is in Gemini, trine Mars for the danger she instinctively reacts to with lightning quick reflexes and excellent eye-hand coordination, able to fire within milliseconds of identifying a target. Mercury conjunct Pluto in Virgo is excellent for a spy and the fact that they make very little contact with other planets shows her ability to compartmentalize her facts and the square to the Moon in Gemini indicates she was trained to forget information when under duress. That Moon also squares Pluto and Uranus showing a need to blow things up and while she doesn’t necessarily like explosions, sometimes it’s just a necessary evil part of the job. There were probably things she couldn’t even tell her husband, even though he had fairly high security clearance, being an international diplomat, negotiator, State Department official among other positions in sensitive areas of government. It might be considered that the Mercury/Pluto square the Moon could be the outing of her identity by Bob Novak. Pluto is betrayal, Mercury is the writer and the Moon is the effect it had on her family and associates. She’s suing Cheney, Libby and Rove and has CREW and Melanie Sloan as her legal representation. With her North Node in Cancer, maybe she can get on the mommy track and break away from public life. They need to get away and have some kids who will grow up to expose more lies from future fascists.

8-19 Gene Roddenberry is known as the father of the Star Trek Universe. Some think of him as a god but I see his work as the vision of the future many of us progressives would like to see. Let’s see what created the creator of the Enterprise…and of course, there had to be the imagination of Moon in Pisces coupled with Uranus within less than 5 degrees for the dream of spaceflight that he had since earliest childhood. In days of future past, we can recall distant past lives when technology was advanced of what we have because it wasn’t on this planet. Venus/Pluto in Cancer trine Moon/Uranus, giving a deep and long-lasting marriage to the keeper of the flame, Majel Barrett, a Pisces, wouldn’t you know it…and exactly on his Moon! Talk about soul mates! Many of the concepts and devices in the early original Star Trek series have gone on to be engineered for current use with many practical applications. The communicator, for example, is like the cell phone or that Nextel walkie talkie phone or what ever it is. Mercury rose just before his Leo Sun, signifying the writer and communicator and Neptune precedes Mercury by a little more than 7 degrees, a little wide, but it can be pulled in to a stellium with Mars just three degrees in front on it. On Mars, at the same degree is Pallas Athene, asteroid of diplomacy, wisdom and tact, but also the arts and war…go figure. It’s a Roman add-on, I believe. J.J. Abrams will pick up the Trek Torch and carry on with another film, this might be a prequel to the original series…how Kirk and Spock met at the academy, when they never really did. Spock was under Capt. Pike in the pilot, so they better keep their Trek lore correct.

His Mars/Saturn conjunction in Virgo shows his father as a driven authoritarian and indeed, it runs in the family as his grandfather was William Henry Harrison, our 9th president. Another call to financial issues is his Moon in Scorpio, sign of other people’s money to Jupiter in Taurus, which can be a feast or famine reality. What might be a little more telling is his lack of understanding of the needs of the people as he has Moon square Neptune and the Sun/Mercury retrograde inconjunct Neptune. I just got an e-mail wherein Robin Williams is calling for a love-it-or-leave attitude toward America. While I like Robin in some ways, he's sounding a little too damn conservative for my taste about now. I have a different approach that I will eventually enlighten the world with, since he can't equate what we're doing in Iraq with what we did in past wars, but conflate them, he does...it's the Republican way and if his ideas got hijacked by a right-winger, I wouldn't be surprised. This is the land of the free and the home of the brave and if we aren't brave enough to be free to speak our own minds, then we are a piss poor excuse for a democracy.

What a wacky, wild and wonderful week this has been and I wonder where it might take us. There are some interesting things yet to happen during the last weeks of summer so gear up and get going for some final exploration before it’s time to go back to school or work. This could be a bumpy weekend with the Mars opposition to Uranus that I will address more later on in the show. We’re approaching some aspects that will cause us to overextend or overestimate, depending upon the situation. Be judicious and look at the picture from many angles as any good artist would do. Take a creative approach to your life and live it according to your own personal vision, as that is the way to be true to yourself.

Leo is the sign of love and the whole world loves a lover. Why is that? Because when you love someone else it brings out the love within you and it feels good all the time, so it’s hard to hate people. If everyone were in love and knew how to express it, we’d have no wars and no conflicts because everything at home is fine and we don’t have wounded egos that need to prove their manliness on the field of combat. People who fall in love are a little loopy and a lot nicer than those who have been in dysfunctional relationships for a while or those who were recently dumped, who tend to be depressed, frustrated and angry at the world, feeling everyone has what they don’t. Well, that’s never been true in the history of the world since everyone requires different experiences based on their specific nature or personality. It’s only because Leo is so prone to take so many things personally, as if the universe was targeting you for demolition and you already felt the dynamite being placed in your joints. I guess I would come up with such an explosive analogy with the Sun right on my Pluto!

Venus enters Leo today and the power of love is on the march, although there are forces of hatred that wish to destroy it and will stop at nothing to take the planet with it, as well. Swinging to the other end of the love spectrum, I love when Venus is in early Leo as it crosses my ASC and makes me feel great and even attractive to others. For early Leos it will bring money, things of value and substance as well as people into your life and make you feel special. It’s a great time to pamper yourself and indulge in beauty treatments and such. So, if you have Leo Sun or rising, make yourself an appointment at the spa or a salon and treat yourself to a beautification ritual that will make you look and feel better. Then when all the suitors line up, you’ll be thinking about how I prepared you for it and then I’ll hear from you for a compatibility reading, I hope.

Mars opposite Uranus is causing accidents, civil unrest, social conflicts and revolutionary activities but it could also be that thwarted terrorist attack with the planes and the British deserve credit for taking them down without an attack. Airplanes and other aviation activities are ruled by Aquarius and Uranus, so Mars is the attacker and the opposition is the adversarial connection. When Osama launched the 9-11 attacks, Mars was on the global South Node in Capricorn and it brought back all the anger from the past. There is also the premonition that this is a wake up call for the future and we should be prepared for any surprises at anytime as poverty and misery leads to anger and revenge. It could make the entire Mideast situation a whole lot worse than it already is. It certainly doesn’t help when you have men in power suggesting that we ‘kill them all’. That’s insane craziness, just the wrong Aquarian message we should send. We need to send out brotherhood and friendship greetings and win over the rest of the world but that won’t happen with this president who wants to divide and conquer the world.

Some earthshaking news in the Democratic Party came out this week as Joe Lie-berman went down in defeat in the primary election. Nobody likes a sore loser and I don’t want to jump too heavily on the bandwagon of bashing a fellow Pisces person of stature. It’s just that he has abused the trust of the Democrats who voted for him to uphold their values and beliefs. If the good people of the Nutmeg state have determined that Joe isn’t the standard bearer for their party, then what’s right is for him to stand down. Pride goeth before a fall…ego is a motivator for those who seek attention, like Joe Loserman. But I’ll get into him more later on in the show. Fidel Castro has his birthday this week, should he live to see it and I will profile him later on in the Newsmakers and Earth shakers segment. Folks, while I enjoy offering my views about what’s going on in the world, I have more than enough people profiled for the next book but I may continue doing a shorter version of the show commenting on the events of the week and the astrological patterns in the sky and intersperse a little more music, just to stay in touch. It’s a little self-imposed discipline to keep me sharp for when I’m offered a radio or TV show.

I have the solution for Iraq; partition the country into 3 separate nation states; Kurdistan, Sunniville and Shi-itopia. Oil revenues would be shared with one third from the Shi-ia and the Kurds to pay the Sunnis for keeping the country together. They’ll need an outside authority to help them establish three-party balance and that should come from the UN and not the US. We do need a reformation of the United, which they aren’t, Nations because what exists is toothless, treacherous, tedious and doesn’t seem to help much. The UN needs to do what the US isn’t trying to do in Iraq by establishing democracy and be the world governing body that restores harmony to the world through a sense of global cooperation rather than exploitation of the weak by the strong, either militarily or economically. In reality, money and corruption rule, preventing the power of the peace process to proceed. Instead, idiotic imperialists increase incendiaries, irritating individuals engaged in the interests of diplomacy. Insanity, thy name is Full Moon in Aquarius and I’m dancing on moonbeams.

The Full Moon in Aquarius was incredible for me, as it was the busiest business day of the year for me, having done five readings that day and then went to the Dodger game at night. But the day before was just as interesting, as I met a couple of people with Moon in Pisces near my Sun and Mercury; an Aries and a Libra. The Aries was a Spanish import from Barcelona that penetrated into the depths of my being, as only a Moon on a person’s Sun can. It was only an hour later that I met the Libra at the Bodhi Tree and led her into the astrology section for some images and information about the signs so she could better design a T-Shirt line. I may have told her I did an astrology T-shirt back in the 80’s and did nothing with it except have some shirts for myself and friends. The Libra was a Katrina refugee who’s an artist and designer with lofty ideals and dreams, having Moon square Neptune, which can go a bit too far with it and lose reality on the way. But her Jupiter in Leo on my ASC and exactly opposite my Venus certainly made me feel good just teaching her and talking about astrology.

Leo is a personal sign while impersonal Aquarius is the universal principle and these are the underlying differences between religious people in the world. The war that continues between the Arabs and Jews has gone on for thousands of years in one form or another and there will be no easy settlement between them as long as both want to kill the other, like a perpetual Cain and Abel or Isaac and Ishmael. Anyone can talk to God but when you start believing God is talking to you, then there’s a rift with reality. Christians have a highly personal and intimate connection with their God, who is really more a fairytale, all-powerful, human-formed old man casting down judgments from somewhere in the sky. Jesus, that couldn’t be further from the truth. These same people might also be prone to believe that heaven is up in the clouds above Earth, perhaps because it has been depicted that way by cartoonists and television. These same fools illustrate hell as a fiery pit of brimstone and demons but have they been there and seen it? Of course not; because it doesn’t exist. Hell is already here on Earth, just as Heaven is as well. All you have to do is go to Death Valley in the middle of summer or into the caldera of an active volcano in Hawaii or Java and you’ll know what hell is like. If God already created paradise and hell here on Earth then he doesn’t need to put one down on the lower levels of planetary reality or lower astral planes. Besides, you create the heaven and hell of your own reality and that’s where you connect with the God within.

God is a concept by which we measure our pain, our guilt, our fear and by which we judge our enemies, God damn them. It has been a way of dividing us against one another. I believe in everyone’s right to their belief in a higher power, whatever they call it. But when they try to tell other people who aren’t of their faith that they are going to hell and eternal damnation if they don’t believe in the one true faith, I have to draw the line. We can not tolerate intolerance. Hmm, there’s a thought. Here’s a concept for those who have a hard time understanding the true nature of God and the Universe. Consider God the only infinite energy pattern in existence and everything is a part of it. All the substance and space, the stars and everything else that inhabits the vastness of infinitude, are a part of God, although there may be much more to that great entity than we can ever know. This is why the Jews consider God the ultimate unknowable and all they can do is question God as to why He does things to them, not realizing that God never takes aim at one or another, but rather lets the forces of nature and karma work their way through the universe. I do not know the mind of God nor can anyone ever know something so vastly unknowable that, to hear the Christian Right pompously preach that they have the only true way to live, is about as disingenuous as Rumsfeld saying he never painted a rosy picture about Iraq, when he did it on a daily basis for the first three years of the war. God isn’t on anyone’s side because there is never a right side in war, or at least not most of the time. We fight each other for so many reasons that it’s sad when that reason is about how God intended to love the world. Two religions that were supposed to be about peace, Christianity and Islam, are about to destroy the world because they see God differently.

The dream is over, Joe. Lieberman’s chart was analyzed back at the end of February, when he had his birthday but now that he’s lost the primary and has decided to run as an independent, I have to address this person. I already did an initial analysis of him last February when he had his birthday, as I often do for those in high government office. I do have a few additional observations about the natal chart and then we’ll move on to progressions and transits. His Natal Moon/Jupiter in Gemini in the 7th is a direct reflection of Bush’s Libra Moon/Jupiter in the 3rd house. It shows Joe buying too much of what the other guy is selling, whether it’s his kissing cousin Bush or distant Jewish relationship with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Neo Con. These guys are so much in bed together it could be called a gay orgy but no one is saying they’re all gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, unless you talk to a right wing Christian or Republican politician, who is probably so deep in the closet that he’s far too offended when the topic comes up.

Joe Lieberman is the Jewish Senator from CT who should have been Vice President for the last five years, but for the insanity of Florida in 2000. I’m concerned about him, as a Democrat, that he really isn’t one. He’s a Repub-low in Dem-disguise. He’s a Demo-publican. His Moon/Jupiter in Gemini is close to Bush’s Uranus, with the Moon right on it, if the time I have is correct and I think it’s from when he was a candidate and they had all the charts in the Mountain Astrologer. Anyway, he’s got the Sun near the South Node in Pisces in the 3rd, so he’s trapped by old school religious patterning from the Old Testament and can’t really shake it. His Mars/Saturn/Uranus in Taurus in the 6th is his dogged determination to be of service financially to the people who work hard and have nothing left, which would be everyone but the top 15%. Mercury/Venus in Aquarius trine Moon/Jupiter make him a good speaker, debater and idea man although his Mercury lags rather far behind the Sun and makes him less progressive than many others. For example, Paul Wellstone had Mercury as far ahead of the Sun as it could get, practically and he was the most liberal of all the Senate. With Neptune on the MC and Pluto in the 8th, inconjunct his Sun, I would think he has some secrets he’d prefer to keep that way. Where does his money come from? Venus opposite Pluto will attract the big illegal funding for his political campaigns. Someone will pick up the tab but Lieberman will know the house always wins. I think he’s ethically challenged, what do you think? Not ethnically, although some would disagree. Let me know, America…what do you think?

Venus opposite Pluto is also drawn to corruption, as other people’s money will easily buy him off and switch him to their agenda. I hear the boss will help him out, according to Karl Rove. He also has Sun inconjunct Pluto, providing even more temptation to be lured onto the dark side. His minor Sun has been conjunct transit Pluto for a while marking slippage into the dark side and in bed with Neo Cons. You see, Mars/Saturn/Uranus is the Neo Con authoritarians who were never conservative by any meaning of the term but rather radical control freaks who want to rule the world. Actually, they try to manipulate the Chinese, the Russians and the Koreans, as well as anyone in the Middle East, but none of them are falling for their crap.

With Uranus transiting his South Node, nobody likes him anymore and he has no friends, except the Neo Cons who now want to help him to defeat Lamont and the GOP candidate, which tells you a lot about his cozy relationship with the president, who kissed him, like the Godfather kisses people. Shit, now I see it. We don’t have a dictator or a president in the Oval Office…we have a mob boss. Joe was his Democratic shill, who dealt softening blows as the presidential speaker to the Dems in the Senate. The guy’s been compromised by the greed and corruption that run rampant through the administration and Karl Rove wanting to help, will just further split the party away from Joe. Sorry, Joe, but you’ll be campaigning for mostly Republican voters who do what the president tells them to do. I wonder how the GOP candidate is taking this? Alan Schlesinger is the guy who was caught counting cards at an Indian casino under an assumed name, so his credibility is certainly held in question, so I don’t see him winning. I think Joe will take the GOP vote and Lamont will win with most of the Democrats voting for him and a new direction in the party.

His progressed Sun square natal Venus/Mercury is an easy way to see one of his internal conflicts, as the Sun has moved into Taurus and he wants to keep the money train he’s raking in for himself and his business friends in Connecticut because he doesn’t want to change from the comfortable cushy life he’s established for himself and his family. Whereas his natal Mercury and Venus are in Aquarius, which is why he appealed to the voters in the first place, as he was a progressive and visionary speaker with ideals and principles. The trine the Aqua planets make to the Moon/Jupiter helps speaking in public to be easier and more gratifying.
Pluto inconjunct his Taurus stellium causes stress and resistance to change that, while necessary and inevitable, finds tension and non-acceptance of the flow of time, energy and the masses of humanity. These are the collective voices of liberal, peace-loving Democrats who are outraged at the intimacy between Bush and Joe Liar-man. He says he’s a leftie but he swings way to the right on war and dirty double-dealing with Neo Cons, both American and Israeli, so he can’t be trusted to have the public’s best interests at heart. Pluto involves the dark forces and corruption to seep into the unconscious of the unwary.
Uranus is in a square to his Jupiter in its detriment in Gemini, causing shallow justifications to rebel against the will of the people. It’s a challenge for him to know the truth that his oath to represent his constituents is upheld rather than compromised on the altar of a politically self-serving agenda, as so many congressmen and senators are guilty of doing. Uranus symbolizes principles and ideals, as well as the sea of humanity and socially oriented causes come under its heading.
Minor Mars opposite progressed Mars shows his energy in the crosshairs under a crossfire and he’s seeing things cross-eyed. His energies are battling with his own better judgments, I would estimate, as he battles without reason or awareness that he wasn’t the man to represent the left-leaning Democrats of CT.
Progressed Moon inconjunct Saturn would be his frustration and depression from having lost the primary and just think what he’ll feel like in November when the will of the people becomes crystal clear. The Libra Moon is his denial about the reasons he lost and the blame he places on others for it as well as projection somewhere in his tirades about Ned Lamont, an upstanding Capricorn who will be reviewed next.
Mars square his Jupiter for the battle of his political life and Mars is on his North Node, so it’s his future that he’s fighting for and the Jupiter in the 7th is his compromised, collaborating, double-dealing and double-talking game-playing and head-tripping. He has put more stock in his relationship with the opposition than himself or his own people. He is being fought over the truth and how government can best be served.
Around election time he’ll have Saturn square Saturn and Mars, so he will have to halt the Joe-mentum, or rather, the big cop that says stop will freeze him in his tracks.

Ned Lamont is now the Democratic candidate from CT for Senate. He’s a Capricorn with Moon in Sag, although Wikipedia had him born in ’52, his bio said he graduated from Exeter Academy in 1972, which would make him 2 years younger than me, since his school was like High School. This, then, is more of a speculative chart until all the facts are known. If I’m correct in my deductions and estimations, he is a Cap with Sag Moon and Gemini rising. He has Mercury and Venus closely conjoined and they sextile Mars/Saturn, which could be a liberal attitude toward alternative relationships or he could be a closet gay guy, not that there’s anything wrong with that but it has to be expressed up front so the public knows with whom they are dealing. Ned’s instincts are open honesty with his Moon in Sag and Jupiter in the first and the Moon is the ruler of the South Node, so has always been a bit too blunt. With Venus as the rising planet closet to his Sun and conjoining it, he’s a pleasant, engaging guy with attractive features and nice vibrations. I had much better feelings about him when he was on Stephen Colbert’s The Colbert Report than I ever did about Joe. Sorry Joe…it’s time to go. There were far too many things that you know don’t fit the Democratic flow, so it is time for some change in the Senate that will promote evolution and lead to revolution.

On the dictatorial side of the political spectrum, Fidel Castro’s health is also a concern and the fate of the Cuban people hangs in the balance of whether he lives or dies. Pluto is nearing his South Node and ASC while Saturn is approaching his Sun and the other mortifying aspect is the progressed Moon opposite natal Pluto. The minor Moon in Pisces is opposite minor Neptune signaling acceptance of the inevitable and understanding his connection to the infinite one. In about two months or less, his minor Sun will conjoin minor Pluto and we can see if that is the death knell. His progressed Sun has been in Scorpio for 7 years, so it could happen anytime there are connecting aspects to Saturn and Pluto. It’s looking like late September, when Saturn is on his Sun and some other things already mentioned fall into place, he could give up the ghost.
Cubans are getting some satellite dishes into their country and receiving American News but the government doesn’t want them to know the truth. Actually, how much real truth would they ever get from American news services who skew to the side they favor?

12th Mark Knopfler is the musician who brought us Dire Straits and the Sultans of Swing as well as collaborations with James Taylor, Sting and other lights of the musical world. He’s a Scotsman although you can’t always tell with singers. As he has Sun conjunct Pluto, he’s an intense personality and powerful ego but has gone through many changes and has survived where many musicians burnout and overdose. He, too, has an addictive personality as he has Neptune on the South Node square Mars and it’s exact. But Mercury closely conjoined to Saturn gives enough mental discipline that he has controlled his impulses and remained in command of most of his faculties. Moon in Aries is square Uranus in Cancer so is emotionally detached and doesn’t seem to care about much of what others are doing. Mercury sextile Uranus promotes genius and originality in his musical styles. Venus in Virgo trine Jupiter in Capricorn has opened the door to collaboration with a wide variety of musicians of international reputations although he’s still very selective. The Moon trine Chiron in Sag is the need to mentor and guide younger performers and give them a sense of direction. Mercury is also conjunct the asteroid Pallas Athena and confers natural wisdom and diplomacy on him.

15th Julia Child was the French Chef and became one of the most well-known TV personalities on PBS for the longest time. I wonder how it was she always came up with something different to cook. When I look at her chart, everything makes sense. Chef Julia has a masculine appearance as she has Saturn on her Gemini ASC, so she was a natural communicator. It opposes Jupiter in Sag in the 6th for the international cuisine she prepared and the great chefs of the world she hosted. Her engaging manner to elicit information, techniques and recipes with all the details that go with them are embodied by the Mercury retrograde conjunction to Venus in Virgo, which squares the Jupiter/Saturn and inflates her fears and increases paranoia. An unaspected Mars in Virgo increases the militancy in her commanding energy but that it is not integrated into her chart means a lack of physical activity to keep in excellent shape. She also liked to eat the food she made with her visiting chefs, so it was inevitable that she would gain weight with age. The Moon in Libra on the South Node is her lack of real maternal instincts and yet the cooking comes naturally as she was likely a chef in some of her previous lives in Greece and Italy.

18th Christian Slater is one of the rare actors who started out as a child actor and grew into adulthood with an easy transition into adult roles, unlike so many awkward transitions that have detoured or ended an actor’s career. On the other hand, he wasn’t the kind of guy who was known for a single particular role, although his cameo in Star Trek IV stands out in my memory. I have seen him in other situations like interviews and such far more than as a certain character. His chart has a very close square between his Sun and Neptune, planets both associated with acting and Moon in Libra forms a sextile to the Sun but that’s about it as far as significant aspects are concerned. Well, Mercury is in Virgo near the South Node and is square Mars in Sag but that could be a lot of New Yorkers with the confrontational verbal style and full grasp of the facts and details to embarrass anyone who tries to get between them and their goal. He does have both Mercury and Pluto straddling the South Node in Virgo and it can cause one to obsess over petty and minute details to distraction. I am concerned for him as the transiting Mars/Uranus opposition will square his Mars and he’s either going to fight with someone or there’s an accident in store for him.

Oceans 13?? What do they think; that sequels are better than the original? Hell no! Copy-mania is the esprits de corps in Tinsel-town. Everyone wants to be the one not to break traditions, codes, patterns and a streak of no new ground-breaking ideas. Almost everything that comes out is derivative. I am of the view that originality is to be striven for and that imitation is the cheapest and lamest effort one can put out. Where are the artists and the inventors who create new visions of the future that are either aesthetically interesting or advantageously useful? Where are the engineers who can construct a fitting edifice in the ruins of the WTC on time and under budget? Why do cities like Boston and New York put up with public humiliations because of debacles such as the Big Dig and the WTC memorial? Let’s not forget the queen of all debacles down the mighty Mississippi in New Orleans. There are so many problems there but I will address the issue this week’s People magazine did. There are dogs that were adopted by Americans around the country after the disaster hit and the locals had to get out fast, abandoning their pets at the demands of officials putting people on buses and getting them to shelters. Now, those who were displaced and now resettled want their pets back and I suppose they are well within their rights. Most didn’t purposely leave their animals behind, as they weren’t allowed to bring them along unless they had driven out of town in advance of the storm. Those who adopted Katrina pets should consider that the animal is the refugee’s only link to their past and that giving it up seems cruel and unusual. Pets and owners should be reunited in the spirit of love and brotherhood and stewardship that God intended for us to express. We all want to get back to our true home or find the one where we need to dwell. When you create the life you want to lead, you can love the life you are living. Until next time.

It has cooled off nicely here on the West Coast as soon as we had our new A/C unit put in, of course, so now we don’t need it as much. Yet, we on the West-is-best-coast managed to survive for the most part and not do stupid experiments like shut oneself into a closed car for a half an hour to see how it affects us, as they did on one of the morning network shows. It’s the reflection of the polarity between Leo and Aquarius that people would show off how insane or crazy they are on television. Don’t they realize they are caught on tape forever? If there were ever a presidential blooper reel, I’m sure the last two Cancer presidents would compete for doofus or moron honors. That would be our current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and the one who was a used Ford, as old Gerry was Nixon’s choice to complete what Agnew couldn’t as the Vice President. And the things Bush says when he thinks he’s not being recorded…or even when he is, shows how stupid he is. Why don’t Republicans grasp what an idiot he really is and how he’s helped destroy our reputation on the global political stage? Well, I’ll come back to that later. I’ll also be looking at the Mad Mel episode.

This week’s chart has Sun conjunct Saturn and Moon conjunct Pluto, both rather intense aspects. Both groups are conflicted in their current alignments as virtually all the planets are making major conflict aspects. As for the Sun/Saturn in Leo, it squares Jupiter and opposes Neptune, so reality is challenged by the world of political and physical deaths, with Jupiter in Scorpio representing, and the avoidance of any reality in one’s perception. The leaders of the world arrogantly ignore the bulk of the planet-wide problems we face. There is a reason behind their motives besides greed and global domination but I think it also has to do with a class war between the rich and the poor. The poor have many more soldiers in the war but the rich never even suit up for battle unless it’s for show and display. Saddam Hussein liked to dress up in military garb even though he wasn’t really a military man as much as he was a crazy, greedy, selfish pig.

Leo is about the life force and force of life upon the environment to make a statement and an impact on the world, for better or worse, as it is a personal stamp one wishes to make. ‘I want to leave my mark on the world’s stage,’ says the aspiring artist, actor, writer or even politician. It is the thrust of the will or the hips as you reach a climax and achieve the pinnacle of success; popular appeal. You create the world you want to experience and the more people who want to be a part of that world, the more of an impact you will have upon them. You want to be the theme around whom others are variation and fugue or a passacaglia and you want to be the conductor, who is out in front of the orchestra as well as front and center stage for the audience. We are all but poor players on the stage of life and each of us has our exits and our entrances and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages…if you didn’t know that was Shakespeare, then shame on you. It is the cycle of human life that prepares you for rebirth into a spiritual world, once you’ve mastered the material one. That’s right, Christians, the condition for ascending is more than just believing in Jesus and God; it’s achieving Christ consciousness. There are damn few people who ever even come close and they had their flaws, in many cases. Hindu and Buddhist holy men are about as close to it as they can come and no wonder. Jesus spent much time there in India during the lost years from his Bar Mitzvah until his ministry. Did the bible assemblers not think it important enough to chronicle his years in between? Didn’t they think someone would be curious about how a great being came to be among them? Did he just happen to pop out of nowhere at his Saturn return and find himself not welcome in his own hometown? Hey, Joshua bar Joseph! We haven’t seen you since you were a little pisher! Where have you been hiding yourself? Up in the mountains of some distant country? He says, in the calmest of tones, ‘Exactly so, my brother. I have gone where they have ancient knowledge and they have shared it with me and now I go to share it with my brethren.’ I’m not exactly sure what the guy would have said if Jesus had said that God talked directly to him and gave him a mission. Maybe he did and got chased out of town. We don’t have these details. Damn it!

Love and lust are the two sides of the Leo equation and often they can’t really distinguish them apart. It is a very passionate energy that gets the desire charged up and the will to do what they will do is the difference between actualization and failure. Leo rules the heart and while many have issues with the actual muscle itself due to poor diet and laziness, it’s also about the romantic hunter in the Leo personality. When there is competition, a Leo gets fired up like no one else because they like to shine in the glow of an audience’s rapt attention. They love the adrenaline rush that comes from getting the glory from a crowd or one special observer. They don’t really care how many people see as long as they are seen.

Ego and vanity, pride and confidence, much of what celebrity is all about. Feeling important never felt so good as when you come from ghetto backgrounds and work your way up through the ranks. Some people have talent and most don’t but those who think they do can maybe have a taste of it if they know how to work it. Some, however, work it from the dark side and get entangled in webs of betrayal and deceit because it’s always going to come down to the money. So many partnerships are dissolved at the end of a gun barrel. Just as you can’t force people to fall in love, neither can you make them have peace with weapons and war. Communication and common interests are what help sustain a relationship but to get it started, you need chemistry. I think that’s what caused much of the trouble in the Mideast and watch out for the wild Mars opposition to Uranus (8-13).

Crime, poor education and poverty are rampant in most parts of the world and with some properly directed funding, we could educate, feed and employ most of the world’s population. I would bet they are doing it in places like Costa Rica and Venezuela where their politics are more humanistic, although Chavez might be associating with crazy Mahmoud in Iran and where that leads, nobody can say. In our country, it isn’t the government that’s helping many impoverished people of the world, it’s the world’s richest people, like Bill Gates. I doubt that this is the kind of privatization Bush had in mind. Profit-taking has edged out investing in America and Americans. I just heard that enrollment in the Peace Corps is the highest it’s been in 30 years. Let’s see…the dream had faded by 1976, as we became disillusioned with government and the Kennedy generation had to go to work in the real world. This is the problem of living in The Backwards World of Backwoods Bush. Why did the younger George turn out so poorly? It all began with a massive depressive withdrawal from his mother when her daughter died and he had to take care of mommy and seek approval that was rarely forthcoming. It has to do with the eugenics plans they had for their clan. It was too bad George had to be an addictive personality and a closet homosexual. Why else would he have been a cheerleader in school and an alcoholic coke freak for much of his adult life?

Shed the baggage and lighten the load. I realized how many changes I’ve made in the last few months and while it’s incredible, there are still more to come. Part of it is Saturn in Leo and Jupiter in Scorpio energizing planets in my chart, while another part of it is Pluto square my Moon, asking me to eliminate stuff from the past that challenges evolutionary growth. We all have some kind of shit we need to unload and sometimes it’s good just to leave it by the roadside after you realize it’s slowing you down. It isn’t right to dump it off onto someone else, as we are each responsible for what we take on and it is up to you to do what you are supposed to do in this life. Only you can know what that ultimately is but when you realize it, you have to act on it. One of the best ways to figure it out is to have a thorough astrological analysis done by someone who understands the deeper dimensions of the soul and can see beyond the mere material. As your higher vibrational energies begin to coalesce around you and activate the spiritual levels within, you’ll begin to know why you were placed on this planet at this point in history, with the people to whom you are connected and the destiny you are called upon to play. We are all players in the great drama that is human life on Earth. It’s only too bad our time on this world may be ending all too soon…and we had such plans for the future.

The Los Angeles Times has done the nation a service by printing a series of articles on Our Altered Oceans. The oceans are transporting trash around the world and the victims are the wildlife on distant islands, like Midway. Seabirds are drowning in plastic garbage and eating it causing them to die. Styrofoam doesn’t break down for many years but containers can be made of organic materials so that they decompose more rapidly and won’t harm animal life if ingested. The decomposition of some of this non-organic crap that travels the Pacific in a big clockwise loop creates poisonous toxins that cause horrible ailments in the ocean life. Domoic acid is causing brain damage in sea mammals, causing them to attack their own offspring. It’s caused by Red Tide algae and causes brain damage, amnesia and anger. It might be increasing as ocean temps increase, creating wider damage, damning us to an eventual cessation of oceanic life. We won’t be able to eat seafood anymore because there won’t be any. Our oceans will be virtually lifeless and that sure upsets nature’s balance.

Then you have the avian diseases, like West Nile Virus, Bird Flu, and other infectious diseases are all because we have too many people wanting too much of what nature can produce. We force production when we need to halt population growth and birds have a certain life cycle and reproductive cycle that many factory farms push to the upper limit to get as much production out a hen as possible. It used to be that turkey was only for special occasions but with the increased population demanding more food choices all the time, turkey production has gone into hyper-drive. Back around fifty years ago, there were several different kinds of chickens to choose from, but factory farming, being what it is got into the standardization of plumper, fatter chickens and lost many of nature’s variety because of corporate greed and wanting to have a greater share of the market. But American farms aren’t yet being hit like the Asians in the Philippines, Indonesia, China and Southeast Asia but it has spread across Asia to Turkey, the country, not the bird.

You want to know what’s cuckoo? Offshore drilling in the gulf has been approved by the House, as if that’s going to help us break our addiction to oil. There is no way this administration will move forward on any real cleanup of the environment because it goes against the interests of the big corporations that line his pockets. The amount of oil that can be extracted from the gulf will barely sustain us for another year, if that. And then what happens when it gets hit by another killer hurricane? There are too many options and not enough real leaders in the fields of alternative fuels. Then there’s the fact that they have been stymied by meddling politicians and industrial espionage agents, preventing cleaner, newer technology from advancing so they could rape the world for a few more years with oil, gas and coal. Fossil fuels have destroyed so much of our native wildlife and habitat that if the next administration doesn’t do something about it, we’re really doomed. That’s all there is to it. You have to vote wisely and make sure you stand up for your convictions. Be a vocal protestor against the decline of Western Civilization and the fall of humanity towards extinction.

The LA City Council is cracking down on free speech, as in cursing and racial slurs, although the ACLU is up their face about it. Look, people get emotional in political discussions, especially when they are getting burned by the government, locally or federally, and things come out that are meant in a sincere expression of exasperation. Most people don’t go to City Council meetings with the intention of cursing out a bunch of politicians. They go there wanting to air their grievances and if that elicits foul emotions, so be it. It is a valid form of self-expression. It is actually an important part of the civic duty of many citizens to speak out on issues that concern them. We are a large population but politics and society begin at the local level, where people talk with others and candidates should be able to get their platforms across to their potential constituents. In some forums, a citizen is afforded an allotted period of time to offer their perspective on a relevant issue or neighborhood concern. In some communities these are even telecast, I guess where there isn’t a whole lot of news or interesting programming but there are many ways to get the process out to the community. It just takes some communication skills and equipment and you can inform the masses.

A daily changing situation in the Mideast and none of it good is not good news for the administration. I believe Garrison Keillor, whom I will profile later on in the Newsmakers and Earth Shakers segment, said it best in describing Bush’s world view. "I believe in looking reality straight in the eye and denying it."
This has never been a reality-based group of people because they have their dreams of a utopian elite society with the rich served by everyone else. It makes sense then, that the president has transit Neptune trine his Uranus in Gemini and Jupiter in Libra, making him believe his own hype and delusional ideas of what’s going on. When you have a press secretary like Tony Snow, or as Stephanie Miller on 1150 AM calls him, Crony McSnowJob, it’s easy to lie and play games with the press. Tony wouldn’t know the truth if it came up to his face and smacked him. Why is that, oh great and wise astrology master? I’m glad you asked, seeker. He has Venus in Taurus opposite Saturn in Scorpio, so he knows who his master is and wants to keep making the big bucks, so serves the spawn of Satan and is one of the minions. No doubt his mind works fast, as the close proximity of Mars makes possible. But when one has Mercury in Gemini on the South Node, instead of getting facts, you get disinformation and with his Jupiter/Uranus square Moon/Neptune, he needs to make up new lies as quickly as possible because the next reporter will ask another tough question and there has to be another non-answer to throw people off the track as to what’s really going on in places that are politically affected. And these days, that’s everywhere.

The Neo Con job is the Middle East…From the mid-nineties, there was a consortium of right wing conservatives who wanted to transform the region with bombs, bullets and bodies littering the streets. These people weren’t just American out-of-power Republicans, but Israelis and British, as well as a few others, I’m sure. Benjamin Netanyahu is one of the more deceptive of them, as he has Moon/Neptune on his South Node, which is the same degree as GWB’s Moon/Juno and his Moon is the same degree as Bush’s Jupiter, even an exact conjunction with Bush’s Chiron on Netanyahu’s Neptune. Here’s a funny thought, though; Netanyahu has Mars and Pluto in Leo on Bush’s Venus, which could be a gay love fest, but also might be a past life sexual love relationship and they both love to eat. In fact, there’s another thing about GWB’s Moon/Jupiter; he’s enthusiastic about gastronomic delights and likes to joke about it and mentions it often in press conferences. His speech writers don’t think about food, just finding more ways to repeat the same lies they’ve been telling for 6 years.

An India-Iran nuke deal raises hackles on both sides of the aisle and they might have to look into the cover-up about who knew what about their motives from before the deal was done. Is this the Bush way of getting Iran nuclear-ready so they can use it as a declaration for war? Sorry pal, but Iran is three times the size and population of Iraq and if you can’t handle that, you can forget about anywhere else to fight a war. We are depleted in strength and equipment since the all the stuff that was shipped over there with the troops has been used, abused, mislaid, and even left on the side of the road, as in Hummers with flat tires or one thing goes wrong with the engine and they have no spare parts and no mechanics smart enough to figure out how to Gerry-rig the thing until they can get back to the base.

Fidel Castro has taken some time off for health reasons and has left the government in Cuba with his slightly younger brother, Raul, a Gemini, who has been his brother’s right hand man for so long and is a copy-cat, like many Gemini people can be when they lack originality or independent thought. People in Miami were dancing in the streets thinking the old man died but it doesn’t matter, since they won’t have elections and Raul will rule with an iron fist until Fidel is back to his old self. And old self he is, since he’s turning 79 next Sunday. I’ll take a deeper look at his transits and progressions and tell you about it next week.

Lance Bass is a Taurus with Chiron on his Sun, so is a very wounded soul, having grown up in the South where it wasn’t at all cool to be gay in public, so he’s been undercover for a while and has just publicly come out. But those who know him and those with gaydar already knew way long ago. All I had to do was look at his chart and I could see it clearly. His Sun opposes Uranus, his Venus, Mercury and Mars in Aries all oppose Pluto and trine Neptune. You wouldn’t believe how gay that all is! Sun opposite Uranus is attracted to unusual, unconventional and even-counter-culture types. The Mercury conjunction to Venus indicates a preference for mirror images and similar types to yourself and while it’s similar with Mercury/Mars, its much more identification with similar physical energy and activity but the opposition to Pluto is the desire for anal sex. Butt jokes are not my specialty, but if you ass me what planet he’d be from, I’d say Uranus. I guess he likes to do the dirty dipstick dance.

Over-personalizing movies gets us delusional as most historical films fudge the facts for dramatic effect, while others twist the tale so much because of a specific agenda. History is often not as written, since those who win the war write the history while survivors are lucky to have any appearance in the history books. Mel GibsonI was just in the middle of writing a long and tedious essay, about how to tell a real anti-Semite from a person who too-loudly rejects the charge of anti-Semitism, when a near-perfect real-life example came to hand. That bad actor and worse director Mel Gibson, pulled over for the alleged offense of speeding and the further alleged offense of speeding under the influence, decided that he needed to demand of the arresting officer whether he was or was not Jewish and that he furthermore needed to impart the information that all the world's wars are begun by those of Semitic extraction.
Call me thin-skinned if you must, but I think that this qualifies. I also think that the difference between the blood-alcohol levels—and indeed the speed limits—that occasioned the booking are insufficient to explain the expletives (as Gibson has since claimed in a typically self-pitying and verbose statement put out by his publicist). One does not abruptly decide, between the first and second vodka, or the ticks of the indicator of velocity, that the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion are valid after all.
There's a lot to dislike about Gibson. He is given to furious tirades against homosexuals of the sort that make one wonder if he has some kind of subliminal or "unaddressed" problem. His vulgar and nasty movies, which also feature this prejudice, are additionally replete with the cheapest caricatures of the English. Braveheart and The Patriot are two of the most laughable historical films ever made. (Englishmen don't form picket lines outside movie theaters when "stereotyped," but still.) He has told interviewers that his wife, the mother of his children, is going to hell because she subscribes to the wrong Christian sect (a view that he justifies as "a pronouncement from the chair"). And it has been obvious for some time to the most meager intelligence that he is sick to his empty core with Jew-hatred.

Mel Gibson is so rigidly Catholic that he prays for sex before he impregnates his wife for the 27th time. He’s not a rational man, as his character in Lethal Weapon has demonstrated and maybe he should have stayed in the outback of Australia where he filmed much of Mad Max and The Road Warrior. He’s got Mercury square Neptune, making his line of reason delusional and infected with religious dogmas that have outlived their purpose in this century. Mercury is opposite Uranus and is the aspect of those who ask too many questions and with them both square Neptune, you’d think he would break away from the church. This is the aspect under which he would drink and drive, getting arrested for several things which weren’t all honestly reported by the Sheriff’s Dept. Venus is sesquiquadrate to the Moon, so he really doesn’t appreciate history and how it has been modified to create lies that subjugate people to the will of an authoritarian power that tells them how to think and how to live and who they can’t love.

I have said many times before that actors often play out aspects of themselves in their characters and never was it more true than in this case. Apparently, Mad Mel did a cameo as an Anger Management Therapy Patient in a film called Paparazzi. Also, he was executive producer of the TV movie The Three Stooges and behind their brand of comedy is anger and frustration with perceived stupidity, incompetence or general nincompoop-edness. I think he’s a combination of Moe and Curly, with a touch of Shemp but not so much Larry. With this kind of childhood inspiration, it’s no wonder he’s never won an Oscar as an actor, only as a director of Braveheart.

As a result of his drunken tirade, Mel is all over the media in a toxic shock syndrome. It’s strange how people are polarizing over this situation, so much so that I am wondering if the Palestinians would consider adopting him or if the Muslims would start going to see his movies. He isn’t that great of an actor, really, as his Capricorn nature limits his ability to give into a character with more depth than he has. Mars and Saturn in Scorpio sit in close proximity to each other, making him a controlling, oppressive and demanding lover and father to his children. Making it worse, that conjunction squares Jupiter/Pluto causing dramatic and explosive tantrums. What’s also possible is that he was affected by the opposition of Mars in Virgo, sign of uniformed service, as it hit his minor Sun in Pisces. His progressed Moon is in Cancer exactly conjunct Uranus and square his Neptune, so I think he might have been feeling some guilt for fooling around so often on his wife. Transit Saturn opposite Venus would explain the coldness between him and his wife for several weeks. For the last few years, his progressed Venus in Aries has squared his natal Sun, deepening the rift between him and his wife but being Catholic, doesn’t believe in divorce. We’ll see.

8-6 James McGreevey, the gay-American former governor of NJ. Many of the planets in his chart suggest attraction to male energy, such as Mars/Pluto conjunction trine Moon in Capricorn. He has Sun conjunct Uranus, opening his mind in the way Democrats are accustomed to and makes for a progressive personality. It’s too bad we have homophobes in this country who would destroy someone’s career over a little thing like personal lifestyle choices. Actually, gayness isn’t really a choice nor is it a disease…it is a genetic or karmic predisposition toward being a certain way. It wasn’t really the fact that he was gay, though, as it was the misuse of his power to employ a lover for the convenience. There are a lot of politicians who are gay…most just use a façade marriage to cover it up and rant against gay marriage as a cover-up.

8-7 Garrison Keillor is the genius behind Prairie Home Companion, the movie as well as the long-running PBS radio show. He has Sun and Mercury in Leo conjoined with Chiron in between them. He could have been a healer or a teacher but instead, he became a humorous observer of human foibles and talents. He has Venus/Jupiter in Cancer so has made a lot of money and has enjoyed his extensive travels. Moon in Gemini is square Neptune, so he’s had his share of losses and disappointment, with fantasy being the compensation for his perceived sense of loss. There may be a sexual secret about him that could come out at some point and I’m not sure he’s even manifested the desire, but his Mars in Virgo square Uranus and Saturn in Gemini might be inclined to bi-sexuality, not that there’s anything wrong with that, as it is actually the most natural condition when the needs of companions of the same sex get too strained by isolation. Perfect case in point is Brokeback Mountain. We can’t know what his life was like growing up in the woods of Minnesota, only he knows. I’m just saying with Sun conjunct an oriental Pluto, he might like the Greek version of love more than the hetero version.

8-8 Deborah Norville is the anchor of Inside Edition and she was born for television with her Sun conjoining an oriental Uranus, rising just before and even has Pallas Athena in between them for diplomatic skill and wisdom…or at least, it’s something she’ll find eventually. She has her Mercury in early Virgo on her Pluto for what should be an accurate, factual investigative reporter. Unfortunately, she has Venus square her Jupiter and the nodes, so she really can’t trust too many of her sources, as they exaggerate and distort the truth into a vague semblance of it so that you aren’t always getting what you want from her. There are high hopes and expectations that others will provide more than she can imagine and she can be blindly generous at times, but she overstretches her hand and can want too much from others. In fact, despite all the money she makes, she doesn’t even get everything she wants as she has Venus inconjunct Saturn in Sag and Chiron in Aquarius, causing frustration and caution toward relationships and the prospects of them. Her Mars in Taurus squares her Sun and Uranus, so she’s an agitator and is accident-prone. There might also be some sexual experimentation with lesbianism, as her Moon square Pluto shows psychological obsessions because of sexual-emotional trauma and only magnified by the Moon square Chiron in Aquarius revealing a wounded, possibly abused mother. She was born in the summer of’58 and there was still Jim Crow squawking loudly in her home state of Georgia, where redneck husbands felt it natural to take out their aggressions and anger issues on their alleged loved ones. Her Neptune isn’t integrated into the rest of her chart except for the standard sextile to Pluto so many people of the last half of the 20th century have and the semi-square to Saturn that shows problems with her father and alcohol. Her Jupiter in Libra on the North Node is her success in the eyes of others but she knows something of her own demons and the Plutonian Mercury won’t easily be persuaded to discuss it publicly. Sun trine Saturn has allowed her to achieve significant success for a woman in what used to be a man’s world. As fellow Leos Lucy Ball and Martha Stewart made clear, the suits will stand for what a ballsy Leo woman can do when she’s at her best.

8-9 Melanie Griffith is married to fellow Leo, Antonio Banderas and they have some interesting energy together. His birthday is the next day, so I will actually combine the two together, as it is only natural. Their synastry is hot with his Venus/Pluto on her Mars/Pluto and they both have Sun/Uranus conjunctions, so it comes up in the composite. His Mars in Gemini is square his Venus/Pluto, which is the extreme passion and explosive anger, even though he seems like an easy-going guy. The Moon in Aries should give it away but her cool Moon in Aquarius is able to handle his shit by not reacting emotionally to it or acting really crazier than him. Her Moon trine Jupiter in Libra gives him a lot of space to be whatever he needs to do, which is something his Moon sextile Mars appreciates but his Moon square Saturn gets depressed about. I think he was raised on fear and intimidation that his will had to battle through to succeed. Melanie also has had her struggles with authorities as her Mars squares Saturn and it may have affected her communication skills with Mercury also square Saturn that can slow the speech and mental processing skills we need to think our way through challenges in life. Her Mercury conjunct Venus in Virgo shows that she wants someone who does the same work as she does and has a lot of interests in common. They trine his Saturn in Cap so that his goals and her work are in tune completely and they may eventually work together. His North Node is right in between her Mercury/Venus signaling significant evolutionary growth from their strong bond. Their composite Moon in Pisces is trine Jupiter and Neptune in Scorpio and opposite Venus/Pluto, intensifying the connection and sense of understanding that sacrifices are made in great relationships and you accept what the other needs to be or do in their life, as they would do for you. With Saturn trine the Sun/Mercury in Leo, they have made a long-term commitment and it seems to be working better than most Hollow-Woody so-called marriages. If my info is correct, the North Node is on the Descendant, indicating a karmic destiny with each other. I suppose she thought she had that with Sag, Don Johnson, having married and divorced him twice.

8-11 Hulk Hogan is the former pro wrestler, nod-nod, wink-wink, who now does some sort of reality show I haven’t seen and wouldn’t watch. It’s something like Hulk Knows Best or maybe Hogan’s Losers…I don’t know. I’ll look it up. I was close…Hogan Knows Best. I had my early TV sitcoms mixed up, a mixed media metaphor, if you will. His political approach to his field is notable from the leading planet in a tight bundle of all planets within 122 degrees. That planet, Jupiter in Gemini, is sextile his Sun/Pluto and trine his Saturn/Neptune in Libra. His Moon in Virgo sextile his Venus in Cancer for his excellent life and wife style, as he is a good partner and seems to have chosen well, having met her in a restaurant, emblematic of the Cancer/Virgo sextile. He’s born with Mars rising up just before the Sun indicating the life of a fighter and must have been a gladiator in a past life.

Anyone can be on TV but it takes a special personality to be a star and another type to be able to work under management that reigns in genius and originality. It’s tough to be both a creative genius and work for a corporation with rules and restrictions and codes of conduct because the true artists can’t easily be contained. They are birds that must spread their wings to fly because some of them are the fairies and angels we dream of when we sleep, although some do it while awake. They see what no one has seen before or in a way no one has seen it. They invent things they need when they don’t exist and improvise when there is no script. We are all artists that are creating our lives, only some have had their artistry stifled, scared or stressed out of existence. It is up to each one of you to find the power of love and the power of creativity within so that you can manifest the divine will of the creator that is the one of all and the all of one. Live, love and laugh, if only to keep from crying and keep the faith until you get more inspiration. The final song will be familiar to you all, as it is the reason John was shot by a programmed assassin trained by the CIA to forget. I’ll share more next week, same astro time, same astro place.
