Labor Day weekend. Last chance to get drunk and die on one of America’s highways. Virgo rules uniformed service, so don’t get yourself stopped by one while driving. It’s also the sign of health and cleanliness and can readily become obsessively perfectionistic. Attention to detail comes in handy in most work situations and each job is a unique expression. It is the opposite sign of Pisces, the sign of confusion, escapism and spirituality. In fact, many people use religion as an escape from the real world. Women used to hide in convents when they didn’t want to marry the guy daddy chose for them. Sanctuary was a common theme for people running from trouble and they would also hide in convents and monasteries. People today find solace in the escape from everyday life in churches and synagogs. Virgo, on the other, has a sense of performing the work that others with more education and self-esteem, would never consider. There is a greater attunement with the material world, especially when it can sorted, labeled, planted or filed. Although it is really about purification and connection to a unifying force, the polarity of these two signs has held the world in a cycle of religious fanaticism for 2000 years. John the Baptist was a Virgo, born 6 months before his cousin Jesus, a Pisces. Together they brought in the Age of Pisces with a Virgo back draft. When he fed the people from 2 fish and 5 loaves, there is a numerological significance as well as an astrological association to those two signs. Pisces is easy to figure but Virgo is the goddess of the harvest of the wheat and the bread is due to her work at the many phases of preparation. Back in the old days, goddess worship was all the rage until the male monotheistic God came in and started ordering everyone to follow strict laws and adhere to 10 commandments. Worse, however, for the Earth-loving goddess worshippers, the patriarchal church became oppressor and tortuous murderer of many women for heresy. Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition. Hell, they were only practicing old wives remedies and were called witches. Swinging from a pantheistic view to a monotheistic perspective is dangerous and the persecutions were everywhere. War is a tool used by powerful people to thin the herd and subjugate other nations. A country like England had no choice but to send its men off to foreign countries to colonize because the homeland couldn’t sustain an ever-increasing population. They also had limited space on the islands. This is why I don’t understand the fear of birth control in the era of a horrific over-population problem. The church has lost its way and you have to return to the words of the master when he said, “Ye are gods” and “What I am, all men can be.” He also said you can be closer to God in your own closet than in a temple. They want your money and they want power over your soul by making you alleged sinners feel guilty for all your impure thoughts and feelings as well as illicit behavior. Meanwhile, they have molested you or your children and are masking greed and corruption behind a veil of piety. They want you to live the letter of the law while they violate the very spirit of it. They have different kinds of witch-hunts now and they won’t stop until they get every evildoer who ever thought a bad thing about our country. The religious right wing wants nothing less than global domination. If you think I joke about this look into what the World Bank has been doing. I think rich men think they can buy their way into heaven. Actually, I don’t really believe in a Heaven or Hell where we reside for the rest of eternity because in taking responsibility for our own life, one doesn’t have the time to hang around doing nothing.
All the ancient gods and goddesses, the Graces, the Muses, the Fates and the Furies represented were different conditions and events in the human experience. I especially like the Muses who were Calliope (epic poetry), Clio (history), Erato (lyric poetry), Euterpe (lyric poetry and music), Melpomene (tragedy), Polyhymnia (sacred song, poetry and mime), Terpsichore (dance and choral song), Thalia (comedy and pastoral poetry), and Urania (astrology and astronomy). Webster’s doesn’t include astrology but why would you need a muse for a science like astronomy? It’s interpreting the meaning of influence when you need a muse. That is the art of astrological interpretation and I have been an artist all my life. I like the idea of a pantheon of beings without giving them credit for the beginning of the universe. And by the way, how can a creationist insist that the Earth is only as old as the bible leads them to believe, no more than 10,000 years. That’s the time since the Ice Age and science has traced humans back further than that.
New Moon and Rosh Hashanah. New Year in Israel…what will it bring? Will it be brought in by the sound of machine gun fire, a bomb explosion or a ram’s horn, called a Shofar? How is a limo like Rosh Hashanah? They’re both shofar (chauffeur) driven. The shofar represents the Age of Aries and Monotheism supplanting the polytheism of the Greeks, Minoans and Egyptians, as well as most of the other civilizations around at the time. Some were still hanging on to Bull gods and goddesses from the Age of Taurus. They had forgotten the Age of Gemini when a God of duality existed, an integrated male/female being of love/hate, good/evil and power/passive energies. Before that, the female was the power, as creator of life. Without one, you can’t have the other, in the case of male and female. An imbalance has been occurring in human nature with the polarity of sexuality. There are extremes and there’s a blending of the gender energies with some. It’s a colorful spectrum along an evolutionary continuum. For the last 10 years or so, we’ve been seeing more androgyny in fashion and people are confused instead of understanding that it’s just part of the balance. Religion so often judges what’s right and what’s perverse in the eyes of God. Now how would they know?
You can’t really have religion without dogma but eventually, polytheism and monotheism will be gone. Bi-theism is the father/mother god/goddess polarity of the universal balance. People will come to realize they have been both male and female in previous lives, some even in this one life. It’s time to tune into the yin/yang of your own energy dynamic. Learn to integrate your opposites and power yourself to a higher state of being. That can be done with the power of astrology. Do not attempt to interpret your own chart because you can’t be objective. The astrologer who reads his or her own chart has a fool for a client. And the person who tries to read their chart out of a book will get pieces of the puzzle, not the whole picture and should spring for a decent reading, instead. You can get one from me. Call now.

South America is in trouble both financially and politically. After years of meddling in their business with covert ops, the US can’t afford to bailout Brazil or any other nation. Brazil doesn’t want to take responsibility for their economic difficulties, as they say, “Blame it on the Bossa Nova!” Why not find an easy solution and open up free growth and trade of native plants and their natural products. Stop trying to control the world, you power-mad megalomaniacs and start seeing that the only way to survive on this planet is in harmony with nature and its inhabitants. The real answer of how to fix the problem has been written in historical records…population control. We have over 6 billion people now and in 50 years it’s projected to be 9 billion! This is why we have had wars. People have cycled through the same experiences time and again but fail to learn from history. When you grow beyond your capacity to handle the population, you send people away from their homes to war with other nations to take their resources or you deplete the resources of a whole environment and die off. That happened on Easter Island, Rapanui, as the natives called it. These Polynesian people thought they were the only people left on Earth and yet, prospered until they had too many people and too little land to produce enough food or wood. They stripped the forests and warred with each other until they almost all died off. An eco-system has to be balanced and re-seeded with crops being circulated. It’s important to garden and increase the oxygen with green plants. Do your part and start growing everything you need that you can grow on your own property. If everyone has a garden we are less reliant on the economy and can trade our surplus for someone else’s surplus. Time magazine has a cover story of “How to Save the Earth” and points out the trouble spots and problems, such as: the melting ice caps, carbon emissions, deforestation, drought, overpopulation, threatened reefs…all of which endangers species, including our own. We each have to do our own part in the process of cleaning up the planet. It starts with your self. Virgo is the sign of health and work. If you all took time to pick up the little bits of trash around your house, it would become a habit and it would translate to an over-all clean-world consciousness. Look at your own body and clean that up, too. If you find comfort in eating stuff that’s bad for you, read the ingredients and figure our where the nutrition really is. Are you getting real food or just fattening filler? It comes down to taking responsibility for ourselves and our world and wishing it weren’t so won’t make the problem go away. Just as wondering when things are going to happen for you won’t make them come to you. You have to be in harmony with your evolutionary life force to come into sync with the positive destiny that awaits you. When people ask me when they are going to meet their true love and they haven’t done any work on themselves, I tell them that the person is out there waiting for their soul mate to be the person they are looking for. It’s the unrealistic expectations instead of offering fulfilling relationships. Until you love yourself and the life you lead, why would anyone else want you? As a rescue operation? You need to have a life before you can live a life and it starts with knowing yourself. How hard is it to pick up the phone and call me? It will be the most important investment in your life. Many of the people I’ve counseled have called in and told you that you should do it too. Don’t take another step into the future without having a window on your past and present as well. Everything you do is a reflection of what you’ve done and most of you are repeating old tunes from the past instead of moving ahead into your creative potential. Whosoever does not remember the past is condemned to repeat it. When you understand yourself through astro-analysis, you are empowered to create your future in harmony with the person that you chose to be in this life. Don’t pass up this most important opportunity to discover your true inner self.

Young people aren’t as young as they used to be. Gone is the age of innocence. On the other hand, did it ever exist in reality? All you have to do is read Huckleberry Finn and you realize that experience helped done grow you. Didn’t make no never mind about age, I reckon. There have always been tragic stories about young people having horrific experiences, like Anne Frank and many others. You think it can’t happen to your own but it can. Preventing tragedy is your challenge and it can be done. We have a problem with ageism in this country. Teen mothers are having out of wedlock children, the bastards! We think it’s wrong and it shouldn’t happen but many men still have the attitude of, “If you’re old enough to bleed, you’re old enough to breed”…for centuries! Our Puritanical Patriarchs have an unreasonably idealistic perspective of how children should be. Well, according to old traditions, you are an adult at 13! Can we start getting a little respect for these kids! Maybe they don’t act like they should have it because they are so out of control. Well, give them a chance to grow up towards their own path. Even when they are adults, you still don’t let them live their life and they think you are living through them and tell you, “Get a life!” Hey, how about “Live your own life!” People have to define their own lives and create their own identity for their own evolution. Your children are not yours to own and be like you. They chose you to be their parents so they could learn about life from your experience. Be honored to have them as your progeny. You are here to guide them into becoming the best person they can be and being the best at what they are talented. Forcing a child into something they don’t want to do that is something you wish you had done is the ultimate ego trip. So acknowledge that. I never thought my son Seth was going to be an astrologer. Hell, he scoffs at everything I say that is astro-talk. I did his chart when he was born and knew then, as now, that he would turn to comedy and writing. Odd since he never reads anymore. He always had a good imagination when he was younger but it’s hard for him to let go and flow, being the Virgo with Mars on his Sun. We have that aspect still in the sky now and, no, you can’t see it! Not even after the Sun goes down because Mars goes down before it. If you wait until just before sunrise, it may dawn on you that you stayed up all night. They are coming into an opposition with Uranus, a signal of accidents and weird activities with underdogs winning at the rate of 3 to one. I like those odds. I could win with those odds. It makes me excited to know that luck can change on a dime. It’s the thrill of the victory, the crash of defeat. It’s excitement that was America’s manic-depressive patterns in the last 50 years. And now, who can sleep with the Moon in Sag opposite Saturn, excessively worrying about everything. Not having enough money or spending too much at the times when you need to be more frugal. Depressed people spend more money on frivolous things because they think that possessions will make them feel better. It does nothing for your soul, sister. And listen, brothers, I know you’re tempted to order the girls gone wild tapes but it’s really a waste of time and money. Not that I have done it. And no, I’m not protesting too much. I think if you can’t have it live, you should do other things like work on your self, mind, body and spirit. That’s how you express your self with the greatest love of all. Love the God within you and within everyone. Accept that it’s a great big planet with an overwhelming number of people crowding into each other’s space increasingly. As we have become the enemy of Mother Earth, we have to change sides and become her ally. Only then can we both survive. We have to stop killing everything and hurting our Mother. That’s why Gaia is female…because she birthed us with Father Sky, the God of the Universe. It is the Yin/Yang, the Light/Dark, Male/Female balance of the universe. Where the Church went wrong was eliminating the Goddess but it was done so intentionally. It was a battle for control of your souls, not for harmony and balance with God, the Earth and all. As we enter the Age of Light, we will become more androgynous. It began back in the 70’s, when people came out of the closet and the Feminist revolution began. Well, now it has to be personal. Know the fullest spectrum of your nature. Get your life back and become your true self with the power of astrology.
The Sun entered Virgo yesterday, which in itself, isn’t a big event but it happened right after the Full Moon in the last degree of Aquarius, very near to Uranus, so a great many strange things are happening. On Monday, there is a holiday that needs to be actualized, not just named, Women’s Equality Day. A great story I heard on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart was about a carjacker in L.A. who was foiled because the occupants of the minivan he was trying to rob were a judo club from Florida and although mostly women, they beat that guy to a pulp. My wife has a Brown Belt in Kenpo karate and my son is a Black Belt. They beat each other up all the time. When it comes to women expressing their power, I am all for it. In fact, often I have encouraged it and with the Moon in Pisces square Saturn today, I understand that many women have been victimized by men. Stand up and be strong because you’re stronger than you realize. If a guy had to give birth, we wouldn’t have any children and would have died out a long time ago. Children have been and still are victimized and have been for ages. What makes lawmakers think that will change with the advent of new laws or tracking methods? You can’t catch every criminal! And the biggest criminals get away with murder or grand larceny because they are campaign contributors. Now Bush wants to cut down trees to prevent forest fires. With that kind of logic, we could easily live in a desert. Maybe that’s why he wants to take over Iraq. It’s just another one of his buddies in the logging business influencing the nitwit in the Oval Office. Maybe he also gets a sleep-over. But destroying forests for the benefit of logging interests smacks of political manipulation and wholesale elimination of environmental concerns.
Young and Bi-Polar was the cover of Time magazine this week. It’s a social disease of epidemic proportions and misdiagnosed often but astrology can see these things with ease. A combination of ingredients makes this as rampant as it is. First of all, their diet contributes to the extreme mood shifts because it’s so high in sugar, processed oils and chemicals galore. On some of these lists of ingredients you have almost the entire periodic table. I don’t want that on my table! I want things I can identify or figure out their source. If you can’t go back two steps or less to a plant origin, it probably isn’t good for you. Oh, you think sugar was a plant…except they took all the real nutrients out of it, which is what molasses is. Pure unrefined sugar has its benefits but the money is made in the processing because of the rum industry, which it fuels. And molasses is expensive, too. Well, that’s the healthy part, right there. Somewhere along the line, people will wake up to the deceptions and even ulterior motives of manufacturers. They destroy natural foods to give you non-nutritional fillers. Where is that pure grain going? Feeding cows, chickens and hogs so you can eat meat. If we ate as Jesus did, we’d be pescatarians, fish, grains, fruits and veggies. Created by a compassionate God of Love, He gave us dominion over the Earth and its creatures. We should not kill, period. Don’t rationalize by saying it was dead when I bought it. Most animals have a brain and a spirit. We are all God’s creatures and He wants us to love one another. That is the Law of Love. Somehow, fish eludes the rule but in most cases, if the fish are stupid enough to take the bait then they don’t have much of a brain. Oh wait, it happens to humans, too. Well, some people don’t have much of a brain…or at least they don’t use it. I don’t mean to sound critical, although Mercury is in Virgo and I guess that can’t be helped, try as we may.
