After a full moon in Scorpio, I just have to discuss some of the topics related to the signs involved. You know Scorpio is considered the sex sign and it concerns many subjects that are considered taboo, deep, dark secret things…things people don’t like talking about. Taxes, for example are ruled by this sign. Death is another dark matter that goes undiscussed all too often. These are things people can not avoid. And sex is like that, yet so many people repress their desires which just makes it worse. Whoever interpreted from the bible that celibacy was the path of the pure way to God was tripping on some of the mushrooms he picked up out in the fields. There is no need to deny yourself pleasure as long as the life you lead is filled with love and light. Those religions that tell you that touching yourself is unclean wouldn’t know truth if it hit them in the face and knocked them into the 21st century. The patriarchal control freaks have always made up laws to control people but have refused to accept natural law. Religion is just one of those things. Every major religion was founded by a man who had his own personal issues with women. They want to convince you that they have the knowledge of God. They threaten those who don’t accept their way as sinners. It is better to refuse to accept their truth and admit that you’re just different from other people. All roads lead to Rome and you can find your way to God on your own path. Not everyone needs a shepherd to lead one to what is more often slaughter of the spirit. Some of us see a better way of self-knowledge leading to enlightenment and God-consciousness through astrology. If we are all different parts of a grand, cosmic whole, then we each have a separate job and place in the big picture. Part of being alive on this planet is about diving into the intense experience of personal transformation, another aspect of Scorpio. The opposite sign, Taurus, is such a physical, sensual and loving energy and has a strong desire to possess, which keeps it attached to the material plane. Well, despite what Eastern Religions tell you, it’s not for you to just transcend the temptation and desire of the flesh. You are what you are but you don’t have to be addicted to it. We have problems today because we have forgotten almost all we’ve ever known. We carry around an unconscious repression of desire and rage, as we resent having our pleasures taken from us or being told it’s wrong. You can see in the sky Mars and Saturn nearing each other. What you don’t see is the returning opposition to Pluto it will be making. It’s another pointer to the sex abuse in the news. It is the extremes of religious and political viewpoints that has created the problems of the world. Pluto is on the South Node in Sagittarius and the ruler of that node is Jupiter, in an opposition to Chiron, showing the wounded nature of truth at this time. Who can you trust anymore? Your parents? Apart from the fact they have their own issues to deal with, there is usually a case of the sins of the fathers being visited upon your subsequent generation. It’s so easy to respond to conditioning rather than make tough personal choices. Certainly not your priest, as he is under investigation for sexual misconduct in several areas. That’s the problem with sexual repression: it comes out in very bad ways when it slips out. Restraint is different than repression and we could all show some restraint and that’s fine. But you can’t expect people living a lie of forced abstinence to be happy or healthy in a spiritual way. You can’t trust your elected officials to represent your positions on the issues if you don’t participate in the voting process. I think if Gore had gotten elected, we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in. Bush is a magnet for the old vendettas that his dad incurred. There’s also the case of them being endorsed and supported (read bought) by big business with agendas and who demand to be paid back for their help getting elected. When you use other people’s money, it’s often signed over in blood…your own! There are few people you can trust, with good reason. You should trust yourself first and then your astrologer, who sees you as you chose to become and can help you actualize that. You’re often a mystery to yourself, however and it’s possible for me to see the very things that block you from being the person you want to be. It’s about getting stuck in old patterns that stubbornly hang on to you…or you to them. When you turn the Taurus around to stop possessing and start to own your own self, then you begin to value who you are and appreciate the qualities that you have. Many people are blind to these basic and simple truths. It’s as though you want what you want regardless of whether it’s good for you or benefits you in any way. You’re used to these things or have been persuaded that you should enjoy them by corporations who only want your money all the time. They own large companies that produce death in the form of cigarettes and alcohol. Then there are the killers of the ecology and the economy, gas and oil. Lets not forget the chemical and drug companies that promise relief with a whole bunch of side effects for which you need more drugs. Back in the 80’s in the movie Wall Street, Michael Douglas’s character Gecko, used the saying, Greed is good. Well, in retrospect, that hasn’t proven to be the case. It is, however, the prime indicator of a selfish person. You won’t find that here. We’re giving away free readings for the next half-hour. After that, you have to pay when you call for a personal and private consultation. It’s worth it when you consider how tedious and expensive therapy is. And you get a tape of the session that will help to remind you of who you are and what you need to experience in this lifetime.
This show was written in Washington DC and broadcast from outside of Philadelphia. One of the more interesting cities in the world, DC is the place to spot dignitaries of all sorts. We went out to dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant and as we came out, we were asked to move along by the secret service as they hustled Hillary Clinton into Cities Restaurant. As DC is the hub of international relations, there are lots of people from all over the country and the world. Lobbyists, politicians, tourists and locals mingling about, going on tours with groups or families, clogging hallways, walkways and streets all over creation. Everywhere there is an air of unsettled tension in the air, with the Palestinian situation erupting into what will soon be a full-scale war. It’s been an interesting week as so much time has past since I spent any time back here. Seeing Philadelphia as a tourist is actually fun. You see historic things of all sorts that you might remember from your youth and knowing you haven’t forgotten is good. Adding to the new memory is educating my son about his roots from a personal perspective. The city has changed in 32 years since I left but it maintains its status of the birthplace of our nation…the cradle of liberty and the foundation of freedom. There will be whatever there will be in the world of man but this is also a nation and a world where spirituality has a high priority. This country was founded on the ground of religious freedom of choice. We have the right to worship in whatever way we see fit…as long it doesn’t involve human sacrifice. I always thought that sacrificing virgins was a waste of very good future mothers…or whatever they want to do. As we begin this show, the Moon is rising in Leo and the Sun has just entered Taurus. We still have that lineup of planets setting after the Sun that will make a nice sight at sunset. And Uranus is approaching the end of its forward motion for this year in a few weeks, so if you want to make some enlightened choices and decisions, this is the time to do it. Since Uranus rules astrology, this is a perfect time to get a reading to become enlightened about your future. As you become more individually aware of your particular uniqueness and purpose, you judge less and concentrate more on what you have to do, worrying less about other people. With this Taurus energy, we use our senses more, attune to natural phenomena and enjoy romantic pleasures more keenly. But with Venus, the ruler of Taurus and Libra, in a square to Uranus, this is not a week for intimacy or commitment. Breakups, divorces, wackos and weirdoes are the main course at this week’s festive gatherings. Just looking at people on the National or Independence Mall, you can see all the strange aliens who inhabit this planet…even some who don’t. Taurus is the sign that rules sugar and red meat, things that are not really good for the human system, but it’s because Taurus is the habitual sign of the zodiac that it’s hard to quit using that junk. Getting stuck in a rut is nothing more than being resistant to change. Moderation is hard to achieve when you want more and more. There are some things about this sign that make it hard to experience a spiritual consciousness...ownership, possession, addiction and habit, as well as obsession for money. We want things so we can have them but you can’t take them with you when you shuffle off the mortal coil…when you die, cease to be and expire, there is a whole new realm to be explored. Taurus is opposite Scorpio, the sign of death and reincarnation, two changes the bull hates. Now, I’m not saying Taurus people don’t believe in past lives, since my cousin, a bull herself, has a strong belief in the subject despite her Cancer husband’s naysaying. The truth is, life is eternal in the spirit as Jesus taught when he was here. But how many people understand the exact message? Scientific fact has proven that when a body dies, it loses a few ounces that are otherwise unable to be unaccounted for. It isn’t an accurate measure of the spirit’s weight in your life but it does pose an interesting question: How does our spirit energy propel us through this life if we are subjected to the influence of other people all the time? Well, since this is a planet of experience in the physical realm, it may be that we are impelled to connect with the very people we’ve had issues with in previous lives. As we broaden our consciousness and expand our experience, we realize that the people we leave behind have their own karma and we can’t help them or make them change. We have to live and let live or die trying. It comes down to handling your own challenges. If you are able to grow and evolve as an individual, then you can go on and elevate your cosmic awareness. As Mars approaches Saturn, it suggests that action has to be responsible and when you use your energy wisely, you can accomplish much. By the same token, if you drive yourself to an early grave with stress, anger, and conflict, you’ve only yourself to blame and you’ll be back here trying to do these same lessons over again faster than you can say Jimminy Glick…or cricket. I don’t think it’s quite cricket the way the Palestinians play at war. This hit and run with suicide bombings is absolutely disgusting because it targets innocent people. Actually, no one is totally innocent or they wouldn’t be living in a war zone. If they were drawn back there life after life to the same volatile area, they must have something to do with this ancient hatred. Nobody’s perfect and no one is totally without sin. Do you wish to cast the first stone? We have to learn tolerance and practice peace. It’s the only way to survive. Today is Hitler’s birthday and the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing and Columbine massacre. Tragic events sometimes make humanity aware of the potential for healing. Monday is Earth Day and we want to celebrate the beauty of this planet, to preserve it and protect it for the future. As the saying goes, we did not just inherit this world from our parents but are also saving it for our children. Maybe we can heal the Earth and our personal relationships. It is certainly worth the effort. We have to be good to ourselves and each other for that to happen, and I know you can do it. How many more lifetimes do you want to come back?
